I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, facilitated through bold and sagacious diplomatic efforts led by President Donald Trump, and express the hope that it will pave the way for sustainable peace. Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. What a country !! Took a loan from the IMF, then stopped a potential World War, also attacked Afghanistan, talked ceasefire with China, then became a Global Peacemaker, also stood with Iran, then condemned attack on KSA, then negotiated with Trump while the nation watched PSL.

With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes. The Government and the people of Pakistan join the people of Iran in their hour of grief and sorrow and extend the most sincere condolences on the martyrdom of His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Pakistan also expresses concern over violation of the norms of international law. It is an age old convention that the Heads of State/Government should not be targeted. We pray for the departed soul. May Allah Almighty grant patience and strength to the Iranian people to bear this irreparable loss.

پاکستان نے افغانستان کے ساتھ تمام مسائل کو پرامن طریقے سے حل کرنے کے لیے مذاکرات، سفارتکاری اور ہر ممکن کوشش کی ہے۔ ہمارے برادر اسلامی ممالک نے بھی اپنا کردار ادا کرتے ہوئے انہیں سمجھانے کی پوری کوشش کی، مگر تمام خلوص اور کاوشوں کے باوجود دراندازی اور جارحیت کا سلسلہ جاری رہا۔ بحیثیت مسلمان، مجھ سمیت تمام مسلمانوں کی دعا اور آرزو ہے کہ رمضان المبارک کے مقدس مہینے میں ہم سب اللہ تعالیٰ کی عبادت میں مصروف رہیں نہ کہ ایک دوسرے کا خون بہائیں۔ افسوس کہ اس بابرکت ماہ کے تقدس کو پامال کرتے ہوئے پڑوسی ملک نے پاکستان پر ایک مرتبہ پھر حملہ کیا جس کا ہماری بہادر فوج نے بھرپور اور موثر جواب دیا اور اپنی سرزمین اور عوام کے تحفظ کو یقینی بنایا۔ یہ پاکستان ہی تھا جو ہمیشہ مشکل وقت میں اپنے افغان بھائیوں کے ساتھ کھڑا رہا ۔افغانستان کو سمجھنا ہوگا کہ انڈیا کے ایجنڈے پر عمل پیرا ہونے سے سوائے ہزیمت کے کچھ حاصل نہیں ہو گا ۔ ہم امن کے خواہاں ہیں مگر اپنی خودمختاری اور سلامتی پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں کریں گے۔ پاکستان ہمیشہ زندہ باد!

As a former international cricketer who has played in Bangladesh and in ICC events, I’m deeply disappointed by today's ICC’s inconsistency. It accepted India’s security concerns for not touring Pakistan in 2025, yet appears unwilling to apply the same understanding to Bangladesh. Consistency and fairness are the foundation of global cricket governance. Bangladesh’s players and millions of its fans deserve respect - not mixed standards. The ICC should build bridges, not burn them.
