Deepfake Zoom Scam (S$4.9M / US$3.8M loss) > Scammers tricked a Singapore businessman into sending S$4.9 million by using deepfake video to pose as Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and other senior officials. > The victim (a business professional) received a WhatsApp message in mid-May 2026 from a fake profile posing as Cabinet Secretary Wong. > The message claimed he had been selected for an urgent virtual meeting with the Prime Minister regarding "funding assistance" for the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. > He was asked to provide an email, sign a non-disclosure agreement, and submit ID documents. Fake emails with forged documents (including PM's signature) followed. > The victim joined a fabricated Zoom conference featuring deepfake AI versions of PM Lawrence Wong, Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister Indranee Rajah, MAS officials, BlackRock executives, and foreign dignitaries. > During the call, the deepfake PM even gave closing remarks addressing the victim by name to build credibility. > After the meeting, the victim transferred at least S$4.9 million in multiple transactions to a scammer-controlled corporate bank account. > The scam was discovered on 14 May 2026 when the victim contacted the real Cabinet Secretary. > Singapore Police obtained and publicly released footage from the fake Zoom call as a warning. > Investigations are ongoing.

It is incredibly tempting to accept every deals that comes your way but as a creator, you have to learn how to say "no" I have walked away from many deals that: - fell below my base rate - outside my niche or expertise - misaligned with my core values - felt sketchy or untrustworthy - and many many more the lesson is always the same: know your worth and never ever sacrifice your long-term brand for short-term gains

Scammers tricked S'pore firm CEO into sending S$46.5m by posing as chairman. > A Singapore-based CEO received a WhatsApp call from a scammer on Apr. 9. > The scammer posed as the chairman of his firm's headquarters. > The CEO was told to take charge of an acquisition project. > The CEO then ordered his CFO to arrange the funding. > Between Apr. 13 and 17, US$36.3m was sent to two local OCBC accounts - US$27.1m from a Luxembourg branch and US$9.7m from the S'pore entity. > The scam was discovered on Apr. 17 when the CEO checked with the real chairman. > The Anti-Scam Centre intervened and froze US$9.7m in the local accounts. > But about US$26.5m had already been transferred to Hong Kong. > S'pore police immediately alerted Hong Kong's Anti-Deception Coordination Centre. > Over US$11.1m was seized from Hong Kong bank accounts and crypto wallets. > Two Singaporeans who helped open a corporate account for the stolen funds were arrested. > Investigations are ongoing.
