We are now CRISPR Academy, an authentic research experience for HS students. Our 1st research paper is now out at microPublication Biology. Check it out if you're ever had problems targeting the X chromosome with CRISPR.

Our split mScarlet vector for SEC-based CRISPR is already at Addgene and we also made an SEC-based vector for cloning any promoter upstream of wrmScarlet(1-10) for insertion on LGII. We've been trying to find time to get that microPub submitted! addgene.org/178877/

@utfriglowworms @csybio @wormbase I am curious you've considered going the split GFP / Scarlet route? It seems like knocking in the small fragment might improve cloning and editing efficiency in a way that would benefit the training pipeline but also enable tissue specificity for researchers

We want to add some rab proteins and kinases to our target list for this year. If we can get some consensus targets (on wantlist of maybe 5+ research groups) that would be great. Feel free to post them here. #crispr #celegans

@ShahLabUCLA @csybio Very true. We’re an educational paradigm first and a research paradigm second. We can’t keep up with the pace of research or easily adapt to shifts in research trends. We have a hard enough time just adjusting to @wormbase genome browser updates. 😂

@csybio FLP-On would be amazing for a lot of the @utfriglowworms lines, but I'm not sure it is practical given their constraints. The stuff they're putting out is already downright heroic!
