A declarative statement about comparative emissions without analysis or context is a discursive dead end. It has value only to those who argue the West should somehow be doing *less* about climate change. /

When you see these arguments deployed in the wild, ask that person: "so therefore, what should we do?" If they're "just asking questions", encourage them to take their declarative statement to its conclusion.
