The Madsen Building was orignally constructed to house the National Standards Laboratory. It became a building for students and teaching in 1979, and is still used today largely for geoscience 🪨 #LeadershipForGood #USYD

@DebiprasadP97 @IISERPune India has a high illiteracy. Why would the Government not have priorities inducing more in primary education?

@utpal_singh_ @IISERPune Justification of saying "Either you guys pay us, since we are getting less from MHRD, else we will decrease research spending", is simply absurd. Higher education needs to be state sponsered, as it will be impossible for the most people to spend on developing country like India.

A thread on fee hikes at institutes in India: There has been a long debate on tuition fee hikes in premier institutes such as IITs and IISERs. Students ask why they pay more than Rs 20,000 tuition fees a semester... (1/n) #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter #IISER @IISERPune

@DebiprasadP97 @IISERPune There are various needs. Developing countries like India has to struggle with priorities. There's some serious flaw in this tweet's logic. GDP per capita in India is Rs 1.5 lakh per year! India doesn't have unlimited money that they'll waive tuition fees and pay professors also.

@DebiprasadP97 @IISERPune Higher education needs to be state sponsored! But it is not. So? Will IISER pay for the students? Check out the GDP per capita in India and then state whether free education is possible in India? It's like saying, students won't pay fees, professors won't ask for money.

which means they have to publish significantly in a tenure, say 5 years, and the money they've got is too little, which itself is very self-explanatory, why is the research quality perishing... (14/14) #AcademicTwitter #IISER #IISERPune @IISERPune

A lot goes into writing a solid research proposal for winning grants and for a very little return, which is in itself taking a troll on their research and to show throughput, institutes have mandated tenure track on professors.. (13/n) #AcademicTwitter #IISER @IISERPune
