International Cybersecurity Community for Africa
The International Cybersecurity Community for Africa (ICCA) officially launched in Kigali on 20 March 2026. More than just an organization, ICCA is a movement focused on building a stronger, more resilient cybersecurity ecosystem across Africa through collaboration, capacity building, and shared threat intelligence. With cyber attacks rising across the continent and a major shortage of skilled professionals, we are stepping in to bridge the gap; training talent, building local solutions, and connecting experts across borders. This is a big step for Africa cybersecurity. And we thank partners who are in the journey with us, @teamcymru, MicroRisk Labs, @rwictchamber, @huzalabs, and the @RwandaICT. This is just the beginning.

Ministry of ICT and Innovation | Rwanda
Minister of State Yves Iradukunda delivered the Guest of Honor address at the Opening Ceremony of the 4th African Startup Conference (ASC 2025) in Algiers, Algeria. He emphasized the continental goal of raising African Champions. He also noted that the partnership between Rwanda and Algeria has been strengthened through the 14 cooperation agreements signed in June between both countries. Rwanda's strategy to foster innovation is grounded in four priorities: creating a supportive regulatory environment, investing in talent and research, being a proof of concept hub, and building a strong ecosystem of enablers.

ISC2 Finland Chapter is now officially approved as a recognized chapter of ISC2! On the 15th of January 2025, I took a bold step and applied to establish a cybersecurity local chapter under @ISC2. On the 24th of March, the application was accepted . but that was just the beginning. We still had to demonstrate that we had the structure, commitment, and capacity required to become an official chapter. Over the next 10 months, we worked through every milestone: building our community, setting up governance, and hosting activities that showed our impact. During this period, we organised our first hybrid event, with around 40 people attending onsite and about 3,000 viewers on LinkedIn live. That moment really showed the potential of what we’re building here in Finland. We also elected our chapter leaders. I’m honoured to serve as the Founding President, and I’m grateful to welcome Tasim Carku(CISSP) as our Membership Chair, Taiwo Bamigbala(CISSP) as our Treasurer and Kristiina Erinko as our Secretary. This is just the beginning. Our goal is to create a strong cybersecurity community in Finland, one that supports learning, certification, networking, and the advancement of professionals at every stage of their career. If you’re interested in joining us, follow ISC2 Finland Chartering Chapter and become part of the chapter: Register here: forms.gle/8DKj9jsZvF4FDx…

Learn GRC for FREE! GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) is one of the most underrated areas in cybersecurity. The best part? You don’t need to be highly technical! You can pivot into GRC from many different backgrounds using the skills you already have. One of the best places to start is NIST.GOV—and it’s completely free. NIST provides a voluntary framework with standards, guidelines, and best practices to help protect critical infrastructure. Plus, they offer a free online learning module to help you get started. If you’ve been thinking about exploring GRC, this is your sign! Check it out here: nist.gov/cyberframework…

Have you ever stopped to ask: Where is your organization’s data actually stored? For most people in Africa, the answer is: somewhere outside the continent. Your WhatsApp texts, emails, and money transfers are likely stored overseas. That might seem harmless. But it’s not. The hosting, processing, and management of data create value chains: jobs, revenues, and innovation. When African data is stored abroad, a large part of its economic value is also exported in the process. Now imagine a different path: 👉 What if this data could stay on the continent? 👉 What if you had trusted local options? 👉 What would it take for you to switch? Today, we explore why where your data lives matters more than ever. Read the full piece here: lnkd.in/dY7Dc9tP

💬 “It’s not in our interest to continue outsourcing expertise. African states should start investing in their own capacities to develop a workforce that has a comprehensive approach to ensuring cyber resilience against evolving cyber threats.” – Prof. @M_HadjiJanev, Associate Professor of Law at the Military Academy General – Macedonia At #ISCA2025, Prof. Janev emphasized that building local cybersecurity expertise is not just strategic—it’s essential for long-term resilience on the continent.
