things I achieved in Q1: - lost my gf - lost 10k on @base because of bullish devs like @geoffreywoo and @moltbook - managed to make 10k back by farming the trenches - lost it again because @iruletrenches said that $ANTIHUNTER is gonna be massive and I fullported my life - made the losses back in the base trenches because @Altcoinist calls saved me - lost 20k because I topblasted $BNKR and @0xDeployer somehow doesn‘t want to inject 1 Million $ into the chart - made 200k$ because someone sent me a token into my wallet - turned it into 1M$ by liking random posts on @baseapp and listening to @rbthreek - got drained and still don‘t know how let‘s see how Q1 plays out

I actually thought that push by @jessepollak to promote the social space into crypto was clever. Unfortunately many people couldn't wrap their heads around the vision and because of the backlash it seems to have caused less noise in the space. No worries tho, because if anyone knows Jesse, you know he is building in the background and preparing straight 🔥 for the space. His original vision still stands. It feels like a big part of @base died when they terminated the original vision of @jessepollak Now, Base feels like just another L2. The everything app and the socmed goal was definitely hard to pull off but at least Base had an identity and a vision.

@0xSantosa @base @baseapp yeah killing the social part of it also killed the app. @base had an identity when it followed @jessepollak's vision of it being a social and everything app. Now, it feels like just another L2. If @coinbase and @CoinbaseAssets supported Base projects, Base would've been epic

I’ve been very bullish on @base since day one. I’ve followed @baseapp closely from its beta launch all the way to today. But lately, I’ve been a bit sad seeing how Base App has evolved. Back when it was positioning itself as an everything app, it genuinely felt like one of the most exciting products and innovations in the space. The hype was real, user activity was growing every day, and it felt fun to be part of. Since shifting more toward a trading-first experience, it doesn’t feel like the perfect place to trade yet. I still use it almost every day, but the experience has been getting worse over time. I really miss when @jessepollak was actively sharing progress and bringing that energy that made the space feel alive and exciting. That said, I still believe in Base. I believe it will keep improving. Keep building. Still day one!

Heads up We're adding trends into the @zora app and .co website soon. It will be on base and is nicely integrated with the existing creator experience. Some notes 1. I expect this to be met with some combination of disinterest and then some further hate. Fair enough. 2. We will be doing 1bps fees for Trends for the first month. This is the lowest we could safely take them. This is for trader UX, to experiment with the logical extreme of the $zora pairing model, and also like why not it'll be interesting to see. 3. You will be able to pair any of your new posts with any trend. These posts will show in a different section of your profile to delineate between them. The UX is very fun and more simple than it sounds, it’s like a tradable hashtag or TikTok sound. 4. The zorb will return. Expect to see it show back up on social channels. It never changed on the app store so that will remain. 5. Our app usage held up better than expected despite the huge amount of self-inflicted turbulence to start off the year. Moving forward I'm just going to remain centered on our own metrics and what we see vs. overrotating on commentary and other dashboards. 6. If I could go back in time I'd probably just take some time off at the beginning of the year and stay the course: we originally planned to launch Trends on Base. Instead I simply powered ahead after an already crazy year (5 years really), friends and partners shutting down, moving on and publicly pivoting across the space, and I overreacted to the market and commentary across the timeline. This was all somewhat exacerbated by the fun and speed of being able to ship with AI. 7. The Solana team is awesome, the network tech is strong and opinionated and the different tools and teams in the ecosystem are fun and high quality to work with. I hope for us to show up again there in the future in a way that plays more to our strengths and a complimentary way to our existing markets vs. all or nothing. 8. One pivot too far: we've survived and grown by making structural changes to the core experience (e.g. 1/1s to editions, editions to coins) that improve the core experience. This one was an incorrect pattern match that in hindsight I could have known due to the fact that a) it was in a different app and b) I wanted to change the brand. 9. I put our users, community and team through an unnecessary amount of turbulence through the start of the year—I'm sorry about that. I can't guarantee I won't make incorrect bets again in the future but I definitely have some lessons to minimize the pain to the extent possible. One of those lessons is to be more proactive in comms, e.g. like this post you're reading right now. 10. We simply keep building.

the single best thing @coinbase could do to accelerate @base is support the top projects building on it, provide proper market making, listings, and capital. instead, nearly half a billion went to cobie. imagine if that 400m had been deployed directly into growing the base ecosystem. base would likely be 10x bigger by now. but no, they chose to give it away for essentially nothing. as a base fan, and longtime supporter. i cannot comprehend why @brian_armstrong @jessepollak aren’t doing this.
