.To reiterate our conversation with @fiddybps1 last Friday, at Extended our stance is that:
1. You can never win if you are building a "commodity". The success and adoption of any product depends on the numerous things:
- user acquisition and retention strategy
- product breadth, quality and stability
- cost of service
- customer service
- brand image
- UX / UI
Cost of service is obviously an important consideration but by far not the only one, and if you are "commoditising" a customer facing product, you can't win on all the other dimensions.
2. We at Extended strongly believe in customisation, differentiation and innovation, which we are working to achieve across all the relevant dimensions:
- UI/UX, product breadth, and quality
- go-to-market strategy aimed at acquiring not only existing DeFi users but also retail in the longer run (both directly and through partnerships via builders code)
- community building, trying to remain as responsive to all the concern and feedback we get as possible
3. In regards to the "cost of service", this is obviously still among the key dimensions for an exchange and we believe reasonably small fees enable:
- a healthy business model and token economics, which in turn benefit early adopters and long-term project supporters
- sustainable growth channel via revenue share with affiliates and projects that’s not dependent on points boost / share
- predictable and honest upfront costs for all users without hidden fees, giving a fair playing field for power users and retail alike
- tighter liquidity and efficient execution environment (through rebates) across all markets
Despite differences in views, the market is big enough for various business models and products to succeed, and it was great having an open discussion. @trevor_flipper thanks for moderating 🙏🏻
