The PEDW inquiry into @landg_uk application to build an industrial estate on Model Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan has been adjourned until early next year. This is where they want to build 90 ind units claiming it will have a moderate impact on the senses of the local community🥴

Save Model Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan, purchased and land banked some 20 yrs ago by L&G as a profit making venture for their investors. A green farm and its biodiversity being destroyed for cash.

@Barrybados As we have found as a campaign group when it comes to open transparent governance the Vale Council fail on many fronts. If they want decisions kept secret they go into closed sessions preventing objectors from committing on their actions. Not a good way for councils to perform.

4. In the meantime we are preparing to continue the fight to save this farm from being destroyed for the benefit of L&Gs shareholders. Farmers are being put through the wringer at the moment, wish us luck fighting this and keeping the ‘Gate way to Wales Green not Grey.

Thread 👇 So after a long fight the time has come for PEDW to consider the planning application on behalf of Legal&General to turn a productive farm into a business park. Model Farm has been a family business for over 4 generations but as tenants they are at the mercy of L&G.

3. If children can’t find the funds to pay this tax they may be forced to sell to businesses who have scant regard for farming but look for opportunity to build on green land. You can’t eat concrete, something we may all suddenly realise.

2. The history of this relates to L&G buying farms near airports to land bank for future profit making by developing them into commercial ventures. This should spark concerns for every farmer who is likely to be hit by Labours Inheritance Tax. It will be big business buying farms

All the talk of mitigating the damage to our biodiversity and wildlife when developers want to destroy our green areas are useless. Unfortunately Planning Committees seem to think they work because their planning departments say they do. 👇

Recent monitoring of the Llanwern solar farm, which promised biodiversity benefit, shows that lapwings, bats and rare shrill carder bee have all suffered huge losses on this site. Mitigation doesn't work. You hear us, @NatResWales? We need to protect our SSSIs.

Planning Departments around the country are happy to see developments on farm land and green fields. Welsh Government have gone a step further and intend reducing food production through an ill conceived policy. Save our farmers and farm land for the future, it makes sense.

It would appear Vale of Glamorgan planning department are cowing down to developers and allowing them to walk all over their biodiversity policy. Community objections sidelined and not listened to.

Just one of our objections regarding the application to build a business park on Model Farm, Vale of Glamorgan, was the impact on an already over work sewage system. @VOGCouncil planning dept didn’t see it as an important issue. The were WRONG again. bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…
