I have this discussion regularly with rich families in Europe. Imho it's leeching the system. We send all your money into economies abroad but wonder why our own economy isn't working. People think quality of life magically appears. It's because of premium jobs & companies.

@AskYoshik You could try Noodle Gallery. It's a fork of Immich I'm working on, with a long list of improvements. If you're worried about being stuck with self hosting, I built in the option to host your photos on s3-like storages, so it could lessen the burden. opennoodle.de

my vietnam trip filled up my storage with photos and videos and for the first time i actually paused before just paying for google photos again, mostly because of privacy so i went down the rabbit hole of self hosting and found two solid options, ente and immich, ente looks more polished, immich feels easier to deploy and manage now i'm stuck comparing instead of just picking one anyone here actually switched out of google photos and stuck with self hosting long term or did you go back help me decide before i over engineer this😅
