The first part of this series, we try to touch on how to setup "local" development env for integration testing serverless AWS applications engineering.calo.app/effortless-aws… Next parts of the series, we dive deeper on how to improve this workflow and touch on different practices we follow

@Oreshni7 @ArturoEcho mes1 to use1 is 165.48ms one way, and that’s just region to region latency. Add in application/db latency and it’s going to be much higher. Probably fine for back office saas, not great for consumer facing applications.

HEADS UP. Popular JSON formatter extension has started injecting geolocation tracking and donation UI into websites Reddit thread seems to think they are also swapping tracking IDs for affiliates (a-la honey) Uninstall and switch to another one

@boristane Wide event. Do you pass the wideEvent between the layers such as handler -> controller (business layer) and then the controller would be passing it around to the different services that it calls, or just try and add as much context as possible in the controller?

Service-to-Service communication in a microservices architecture is a must, but we tend to forget about the experience when building a solution that seamless for developers to build. In this article I explain my take on how to achieve this @qasimalbaqali/aws-service-to-service-communication-simplifying-integration-and-enhancing-efficiency-a754c2e74e0f" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@qasimalbaqali

it seems like all the problems that software development has can be solved by shifting responsibility to the left, whether it's ownership (building, running, maintaining, infrastructure) or shifting the processes closer to the developer (testing, cost optimization, data mesh, etc)

@theburningmonk When to use an SQS as a DLQ on the EB rule, or on the lambda as failure destination or is it better to "subscribe" an SQS to an EB rule and attach a DLQ on it? In what cases would help me make these choices?

What's the approach that you will take when you have 2+ different process listening to the same event modifying the same #dynamodb item resulting in a TransactionConflict being thrown. Context: User renews. 1 lambda renews the users and the other updates the users balance, etc🤔

@alexbdebrie Chpt. 20 example of fetching all brands. Lets say I need to fetch all brands and the list of brands are infinite. How would you model it differently without the use of a singleton item? Would you create a GSI that will be on "type" attribute that holds "brand"?

having these two types of test makes me the most confident about my code not breaking anything in prod when deployed

... making sure that the item that was supposed to be updated into a specific way in the dynamodb table is verified, and event that an event that we published to SQS actually does exist in the queue.

is it dumb to say that in serverless, there can be two different type of integration tests? one that is all about confirming the way your components should be integrated with each other, and another that is purely business logic testing
