A PCM analisa. portuguesecyclingmagazine.com/afinal-como-an…

Tenho dito.

Once upon a time, Mourinho wanted an unknown striker and told the owner to sign him. Abramovich asked: “Who is he?” Mourinho replied: “Mr Abramovich, pay and don’t speak.” That player was Drogba. The owner trusted the manager. The rest is history. Fast forward to today: Maresca stepped away from Chelsea with conviction, after having constant disagreements with the hierarchy. Amorim said it clearly: “I am a manager, not a coach.” Soon after, he got sacked, not purely for results, but for challenging the hierarchy publicly. This is exactly why Chelsea and Manchester United are doomed in the long run. These clubs no longer want managers. They want head coaches who train the squad they’re given, stay silent, and operate within strict limits, while sporting directors, and executives hold the real authority. Football has changed at the top, and not for the better. Chelsea and United will regret losing figures who demanded authority. You don’t build sustainable success and dynasties by restricting the people responsible for results and handcuffing leadership.

Several contradictory things are simultaneously true: 1. Maduro was an oppressive, unpopular and illegitimate ruler, disastrous for his country and the region. 2. Using the US to remove him may have been equally illegitimate. 3. Venezuela would be better off with a new government under the opposition's Edmundo Gonzalez (who probably won the presidential election but is now exiled). 4. It's not clear that Maduro will be replaced by Gonzalez. Maduro's VP is still apparently in power, as are other regime figures and the Cubans who back them. 5. As we've seen in Iraq and Libya, it can be easier to topple a leader than to establish a new government; sometimes you get a worse leader, or Somalia-style chaos.

There is something that could be gleaned from this, aside from how braindead the take is, of course. People who are repulsed by the typical hero’s journey typically fall into the mindset of “Who I am is enough,” the idea that something would suggest that you have to improve yourself to get what you want counters that notion, and because they’ve been raised to believe that they never need to improve (large swaths of people, not all), they find the idea of improvement a slight against their character. It’s a narcissistic ideology and one that lends itself to stagnation, but it’s also one that’s really easy to fall into since it requires zero effort on the part of the believer. Those that believe this sort of thing have infiltrated so many aspects of entertainment, and it’s why so many stories and reboots take the old messages of “you’re not good enough, but you can work to being good enough,” and twist them into “You’re good enough without trying. In fact, you’re perfect and anyone who says otherwise is wrong.” As we can see, most people DON’T agree with that notion, as it is the natural human instinct to improve and learn, it’s just that the current nepotistic structures in entertainment have allowed the stagnant ideology to flourish because it actively reinforces it, as evidenced by so many people failing upwards in entertainment.
