RESIGNATION LETTER I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership and all responsibilities associated with the Indian National Congress. Throughout my journey in the Congress party, I stood with a clear conviction that we were fighting not merely a political battle, but an ideological war a principle repeatedly articulated by Rahul Gandhi ji himself. Time and again, he emphasized that the struggle of the Congress party is against divisive ideologies and for the protection of constitutional values, secularism, social justice, and democratic principles. In Tamil Nadu, the party consistently projected its alliance with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as an ideological partnership. Rahul Gandhi ji, during almost every public address in Tamil Nadu, clearly stated that the Congress-DMK relationship was not merely electoral, but ideological in nature. That understanding formed the basis of my political commitment and faith in the alliance. However, the sudden political shift towards an alliance with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam raises serious ideological questions in my mind. If ideology was truly the foundation of our political direction, what was the compelling ideological reason behind replacing a long-standing ally like DMK with TVK? I find myself unable to understand whether this decision was based on TVK’s ideological strength, political sacrifice, administrative experience, intellectual clarity, or consistent opposition to the BJP-RSS ideology. At several crucial moments in recent times, including instances involving communal tensions and attacks on minorities when strong political voices were expected, silence prevailed from those whom the party now considers allies. On the other hand, DMK consistently positioned itself firmly on ideological grounds and publicly confronted such issues without hesitation. Therefore, it becomes difficult for me to accept that the present political realignment is rooted in ideology. It appears instead to be driven by electoral calculations and popularity based opportunism. Politics, as I learned from Rahul Gandhi ji’s speeches and principles, should not be reduced to opportunism. It must remain anchored in ideology, values, and moral clarity. With deep disappointment and a heavy heart, I have therefore decided to step away from the party. I remain grateful to every leader, colleague, and cadre member who supported and encouraged me during my tenure in the Congress movement. Some created websites to record the current government’s failures, while others made tools to analyse election data and identify where things went wrong. Now, all these people have tagged several party persons expecting positive feedback. Barring a few acknowledgements, there have been no responses from the official handles. What was expected was not an admission of failures or a list of sackings, but a few lines like, “We are working on your suggestions, we are going to completely revamp the setup so that all your expectations are met. Give us a couple of months and we will hit back!” Hope someone is noticing this and taking appropriate action!
