Firefighters made an aggressive attack to quickly knocking down the fire. Firefighters are currently working on the roof to ensure no extension into the attic. VCFD is on scene of a working structure fire in the 5300 block of Meadowbluff Court in Camarillo. Arriving units reported heavy fire coming from the exterior of a two-story, single family home. Firefighters made an aggressive attack to quickly knock down the fire, while performing a primary search and checking for extension to the adjacent structure. Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the incident. No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

STR VCFD along with LA County Fire is on scene of a working structure fire in the 900 block of Westcreek Lane in city of Thousand Oaks. Units on scene are reporting a 2-story, multi family with smoke showing from a 2nd story apartment. Firefighters are aggressively attacking the fire while conducting a search of the apartment and adjacent units to ensure everyone has evacuated safely. Firefighters are also working to protect exposures in nearby occupancies. Approximately 50 firefighters are committed to the incident.

VCFD and Ventura City Fire firefighters, along with AMR and CHP, responded to a technical rescue along Foothill Rd, west of the City of Santa Paula. Upon arrival, firefighters located two individuals stranded approximately 30 feet in the air after the boom lift they were operating malfunctioned. Firefighters from Ventura City Fire’s Medic Truck 5, supported by personnel from both Ventura City Fire and VCFD, executed a coordinated rescue—safely bringing the individuals down using their aerial ladder. Both individuals were unharmed and did not require medical attention. This incident highlights the importance of interoperability between Ventura City Fire and VCFD, demonstrating how our agencies work together seamlessly to provide fire, rescue, and EMS services—regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.

VCFD and Oxnard firefighters responded to a residential duplex garage fire in the 100 block of Santa Paula Ave in Silverstrand. During the incident, firefighters from Oxnard Truck 81 rescued a young boy from the third story, guiding him to the second floor and then safely down a ladder to the ground. The child was evaluated on scene by firefighter paramedics and Gold Coast Ambulance personnel. VCFD along with VCSO is on scene of a brushfire near Haynes Road and the 126 freeway east of the city of Fillmore. Forward progress has been stopped at approximately 1-2 acres. The fire was reported in light to medium fuels with a slow rate of spread. Firefighters made an aggressive attack both from the air and from the ground. Approximately 60 firefighters are currently assigned to the incident and will remain on scene for several hours mopping up. There were no structures threatened or damaged, and no injuries to firefighers or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

VCFD along with VCSO and CHP are on scene of a 0.5 acre brush fire near the 5000 Block of Balcom Canyon Road outside the city of Moorpark. The fire impacted a row of eucalyptus trees, causing damage to a number of avocado trees in a nearby orchard. Forward progress has been stopped, and firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day mopping up and checking for any additional hot spots. CHP has issued a closure of Balcom Canyon Road between the 118 freeway and Stockton Road. The closure is anticipated to continue until at least 12pm. There were no structures threatened or damaged by the fire. Approximately 50 firefighters responded to the fire, and there were no injuries reported to firefighters or civilians. Today has been designated a permitted agricultural burn day by the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District (VCAPCD). Agricultural burning is used to dispose of plant waste from farming operations and is allowed only in agricultural areas with a valid burn permit.   The Fire Department is aware of these permitted burns and is monitoring conditions. VCFD along with Ventura City Fire and Santa Paula PD is on scene of a working structure fire in the 100 block of East Ventura Street in Santa Paula. Units on scene reported a contents fire confined to a single unit of a 2 story, multi-unit apartment complex. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire while performing a primary search to ensure all occupants had evacuated. Firefighters will remain on scene performing salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ventura County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and AMR are on scene of a vehicle-versus-train collision in the Oxnard Plains area outside the City of Camarillo. A southbound Metrolink Train 118 struck a vehicle at an intersection. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The train was carrying 14 passengers and a two-person crew. No injuries have been reported, and all passengers and crew remain on board at this time. Today, Santa Claus and his trusty helpers made a vertical entrance at Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC), rappelling down the side of the hospital to visit the pediatric unit. Joined by Ventura County Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams, Santa brought smiles, cheer, and special gifts to some of the smallest — and most courageous — patients in the hospital. Firefighters from Oxnard Fire, Ventura City Fire, and Ventura County Fire all came together to help Santa safely deliver presents and holiday joy to children and families spending the season in the hospital.
