Distinctly Aussie 🔴🟡⚫️

I usually reference my POV. Proud Australian National. Unless you’re an aboriginal person, you’re an Aus National. You can never be a person of Aussie Descent.

Parents currently make up the largest portion of permanent visa applications. Partners are the second largest. Skilled independent is the smallest by far. Don't ever talk to me about our immigration settings being highly targeted.

Only 1 of the top 10 countries of origin for migrants has a lower median age than those born in Australia. That country, Nepal, is 8th on the list of countries of origin by population and is dwarfed by the top few. So the overwhelming majority of first generation migrants are older than people born in Australia. Which means that our population isn’t getting younger as a result of migration. New migrants are mostly younger - but to actually reduce our population age requires more and more younger and younger migrants. Which is contributing to a lower and lower local birth rate as the adverse economic impacts of migration deter Australian-born children. This is yet another in a long series of black pills for me.

Melbourne commuters are being accidentally charged as the rollout of contactless payments at Myki gates hits an unexpected snag, with some people billed without even tapping on. Some commuters have reported a glitch where they were unintentionally charged just by walking past one of the new tap-and-go readers. 📌 MORE: tinyurl.com/5da2frsr @mollymag3 #myki #ptv #tapandgo #transport #melbourne

A 4-lane flyover in Mira-Bhayandar suddenly narrows into just 2 lanes. This double-decker flyover is a part of the Metro Line 9 project by JKumar and is set to be inaugurated in February. Is this how @MMRDAOfficial designs “infrastructure”? How did this design get approved? 🤷🏻
