@ChessbaseIndia Congrats, @DGukesh on a spectacular win! Wow, what an amazing journey! A proud moment for your Parents, your Team and India! As you said in the Press Conference, keep going till you displace Magnus Carsen as the new GOAT.

Historic win for India as our chess contingent wins the 45th #FIDE Chess Olympiad! India has won the Gold in both open and women’s category at Chess Olympiad! Congratulations to our incredible Men's and Women's Chess Teams. This remarkable achievement marks a new chapter in India's sports trajectory. May this success inspire generations of chess enthusiasts to excel in the game.

@ChessbaseIndia @19thAGofficial Both men and women will miss Gold and settle for silver. Disappointing finish given how strong the individual players are.

These are the pairings of the final 9th round in the #Asiangames Team Men's Chess. Iran will face Republic of Korea tomorrow, and India will take on The Philippines.

English

Team India registers a 0.5-3.5 win against Republic of Korea in a nail-biting encounter at #AsianGames Team Men's Chess event!
While the scoreline might suggest otherwise, India played one of the most nerve-wracking matches of this event today in the penultimate 8th round. At some point, it felt like India was in the brink of defeat!
GM Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa managed to win his game without any difficulties, taking down Kwon Sehyun on board 2 with the White pieces. Nothing was sure in the rest of the 3 boards!
GM Arjun Erigaisi ran into an huge attack on board 3 against Gu-In Jung - he had a lost position with the Black pieces! But the Warangal GM kept his cool and managed to turn it into a win from a complex position.
D Gukesh's game was the perhaps the most exciting of them all. Gukesh built up a small advantage with the Black pieces against IM Lee Jun Hyeok, but it became equal-ish in a Bishop vs Knight ending.
Desperate for a win, Gukesh overpressed and found himself in a lost position! However, his opponent couldn't find the winning continuation - but now Gukesh had found a way to keep the game going. After a long struggle, IM Lee Jun finally blundered with low time on the clock - missing a checkmating net with Gukesh's Queen and Knight. The score now became 3-0 - India had won the match already!
On the last board, GM Pentala Harikrishna had a totally lost position against Ahn Hongjin. But Hari managed to save a very difficult Bishop vs Rook ending, and salvaged a draw.

@ChessbaseIndia @FIDE_chess How does India keep minting strong chess players? Especially Tamil Nadu? Is there a Vishy virus? @vishy64theking
English

The Indian youngsters are consistently proving that their chess strength is much higher than their ratings. Take Amulya Guruprasad for example - she started as the 75th seed in the U-14 girl's section of the @FIDE_chess World Youth Olympiad, but now leads the event with 6/7!

English

@Rameshchess @ChessbaseIndia @pawnof64squares @dubaichess @rpragchess How much ELO did @pawnof64squares gain? Will he enter top 100 FIDE list in October?
English

Double dhamaka! Congratulations @pawnof64squares Aravindh Chithambaram for winning @dubaichess Dubai open convincingly with 7.5/9 points and for younger cub @rpragchess for coming second! Proud of you kutties!
English

@SusanPolgar @ArjunErigaisi @DGukesh @FIDE_chess @2700chess @aicfchess I think the problem youngsters face will be, they get to 2750+ rating and when they reach ages 25-40 the next set of youngsters move up fast, and they can’t spend 12+ hours a day on chess and they drop in ratings and interest.

@ChessbaseIndia @FIDE_chess @SavithashriB Awesome! The new way to increase ratings is spend six weeks on a European tour, play 5-6 tournaments, win them all and add 200+ to it. Players need money/sponsorships to do it. I’m sure they all work at it on a shoestring budget.
English

The September @FIDE_chess rating list is live now. WIM Savitha Shri Baskar is now #3 in the top 100 girls list! The 15-year-old is now rated 2435, and India's No.4 female player. She increased her rating by a whopping 205 points in a span of only 5 events!

@vishrut_krishna @ChessbaseIndia @2700chess @ArjunErigaisi Already at 2735 - just win Dubai Open Rds 7,8,9 - he will reach 2750 and can jump to 14th place in 4 days.
English

@ChessbaseIndia @2700chess @ArjunErigaisi Gap between 19th and 17th is always so high - from 2730 to 2745, the growth won't be reflected in rankings for a while from now on
English

Arjun Erigaisi's insane run is unstoppable. He has taken down Rinat Jumbayev, now becoming the sole leader of the Dubai Open after Round 6! With this win, Arjun's live rating has climbed up to 2735.3, and he's only 15 points away from reaching 2750.
