In defense of Indian 🇮🇳 democracy!
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi most successful visit to Norway a minor incident happened. A Norwegian journalist demanded that the prime minister starts holding press conferences. She claimed that Indian democracy is in bad shape.
May be its time to pause? May be its time to be a bit curious to the world’s largest democracy?
Two weeks ago five Indian states and territories held elections. The turn out in the battlefield state of West Bengal was 94%. In the last local election in Norway it was 62%, in many European local elections turn out is below 50%. Can voting in massive numbers be a signal Indians trust their democratic process?
In the same election BJP won big in Assam and West Bengal. It lost even bigger in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Can this diversity be a signal that Indian democracy is reflecting the will of the people?
The journalist referred to a democracy ranking putting India at 157 in the world, behind many dictatorships and deeply troubled states. When a ranking is so obviously contrary to common sense, why not ask critical questions to those making the ranking rather than demand that leaders shall comment on nonsense? I recommend Salvatore Babones book “Dharma democracy”. The book debunks convincingly the flawed methodology of these rankings.
It was referred to a ranking claiming it’s very dangerous to be a journalist in India. Reality is that it is more dangerous to be journalist in the US and far more dangerous in the vast majority of other nations in the world.
Let’s be real. India is not perfect. Of course there are incidents. India has a population the size of North America, South America and Europe combined. But India is much more peaceful than Europe or the Americas. That’s remarkable - given the ethnic, language and religious diversity of India and the many development challenges.
Unless we consider democracy a form of government only suited for some very small, peaceful and homogeneous Western European nations, may be we should commend Indian democracy?
India is the only major former UK colony which became and has remained a democracy. Its sometimes claimed that the Brits taught India democracy. If that was the case why isn’t Myanmar or Pakistan or the Gulf kingdoms democracies??? Reality is that Indian democracy is both homegrown and extraordinary successful.

Yesterday senior journalist S Balakrishnan @balettan visited #HathKataroKhamb in Goa. Here 1000s of Hindus were tied to and their hands cut by the Portuguese during the #Inquisition for not converting to Christianity!! We again request #Goa govt to turn it into a proper memorial with a plaque recalling the horrors! @DrPramodPSawant history is very important. Who planned a bridge over a historic place? ☹️

The Soros gang wanted to embarrass the Indian prime minister in a foreign land. One Indian who is Christian by birth shut everyone's mouth; he was so effective that the planted journalist ran away in shame. My prime minister doesn't need to respond to such presstitutes; it's below his dignity. There are enough CB George in India to take on our ideological enemies, both inside the country and worldwide. United we stand divided we fall.

@OpIndia_com Correction: its "Spit and Run" journalism! Throw aspersions, grab eye balls and vanish!

Primeminister of India, Narendra Modi, would not take my question, I was not expecting him to. Norway has the number one spot on the World Press Freedom Index, India is at 157th, competing with Palestine, Emirates & Cuba. It is our job to question the powers we cooperate with.

Did you know that ancient Greeks described Indian society as a land with no slaves, no written laws, and a king guarded by elite women warriors? When the Greek ambassador Megasthenes lived in India around 300 BC, what he saw completely amazed him.
One of his most shocking observations was how safely farmers lived. Megasthenes wrote that even during the bloodiest wars, farmers were treated as sacred. While armies fought nearby, soldiers would leave farmers completely alone to work their fields in peace.
Equally mind-blowing was the king’s security team. Emperor Chandragupta did not trust regular male soldiers to protect him. Instead, his inner palace corridors were guarded by a highly trained troop of armed women warriors.
Even the smartest people faced strict rules. The highest social class belonged to the Philosophers, whose job was to predict the weather and monsoons for the government. But there was a catch: if a philosopher’s predictions failed three times, they were legally banned from speaking for the rest of their life.
Furthermore, Megasthenes was stunned by how much Indians valued freedom. Coming from Greece and Rome, where slavery was brutal and widespread, he wrote in awe that all Indians were free and no one was treated as a slave.
Finally, the honesty of the people surprised him. He noted that in a massive military camp of 400,000 men, thefts almost never happened. Because people trusted each other so deeply, society ran smoothly without written contracts or law books, relying entirely on custom and word of mouth.

India just built its own AI powered drone killer 🇮🇳
Zen Technologies unveiled India's first modular AI powered counter drone system at North Tech Symposium 2026 in Prayagraj.
Here is what it can actually do 👇
• Detects drones at over 15 km range
• Tracks more than 100 drones simultaneously for swarm engagement
• Covers full frequency spectrum from 70 MHz to 12 GHz
• RF jamming, GNSS spoofing and kamikaze interceptors all in one system
• Deployable as vehicle mounted, man portable or fixed site
• 100% indigenously designed under IDDM framework
Built in Hyderabad. Owned by India. No import dependency for the most critical counter drone technology on today's battlefield.

@Eternaldharma_ If man says he isn’t afraid of death, either must be lying or he’s a Gurkha or Gen Sagat Singh

Lt Gen Sagat Singh - the man who never lost
1961 Goa Liberation - Higher HQ made a slow & steady plan. He ignored it, raced ahead, forced Portuguese surrender, hoisted Tricolour over Panjim, ending 451 years of Portuguese rule. Portugal put a $10k bounty on his head.
1967 Nathu La (China War) - Eastern Command & Delhi ordered restraint & withdrawal. He refused, crushed China & avenged '62.
1971 Bangladesh Liberation - Was ordered not to cross the Meghna River. Replied on radio - "Over my dead body!" Heli-bridged Meghna, raced to Dhaka & forced 93,000 Pak troops to surrender.
He is the reason behind our victory in 1971
it was him who entered dhaka first and forced niazi and the pakistani eastern command to surrender
And it was he who defeated the chinese in nathu la in 1967 and it was a big thing specially after the 1962 setback
What a chad general One of the best we ever had
