INSANE. Richard Craig Harrison, a teacher at Grantsville High School in Utah was sentenced to 1 year in jail after he pleaded guilty to the forcible s*xual abuse of a minor student. About the girl with Cerebral Palsy who was transed, filmed showing double mastectomy scars: A lot of people have expressed outrage at this. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a tragedy whenever women and girls feel they have to do this. But I can't agree that it's more tragic in her case than in any other. There's absolutely no reason to think that she doesn't have the intelligence and agency to make bad decisions, just the same as everyone else. Personally, I have no evidence that suggests that she's more of a victim than other transed girls and I feel very uncomfortable with people sharing the video as though it were a gotcha. It feels a lot like she's being used to shock people, when the shock ought to be *every* girl and woman who feels the need to do this to herself. Disabled people aren't automatically incapable of thought and agency and it is absolutely shit of you to assume we are.
