@mattworkman As someone who spent a good 15 years pushing vertices around (before moving to game engine) I have to agree with you. The road to bespoke assets is a long one and modelling will remain a niche craft for a very long time, but the toolset will slowly melt away.

@punk4156 Haha $1m VFX budget. I think you’re actually referring to the cost of the campaign (all-in for agency and production co) not including the ad buy. How many client rounds? 11th hour script changes? The VFX shop would be lucky to get a 15-20% cut of that budget.

my biggest surprise w/ #applevisionpro is how uninterested I am in fully immersive apps. an app that completely takes over my view is far less interesting in here than customizing an environment w/ a large number of simultaneous windows and volumes.
I don't want ports from #VR.

Rewatching the video tour of the #AppleVisionPro and realizing that Will, the guy "trying the headset for the first time" lied to us all. There's no way that the Apple girl is able to do him such a smooth demo if he's a first-time user. I've a long history of demos in XR and something more realistic with a new user is (A is the Apple employee, W is Will)
A: click on "My photos"
W: how
A: pinch your fingers
W: [proceeds to move the whole hands in ways scientists didn't even think it's possible]
A: "no, pinch just thumb and index"
W: [proceeds to move randomly the thumb and index as if he forgot how to use the hands]
A: (thinking "Fuuuuuuuu*k") No, like this, see my hands, do like that
W: aaaaahhh, ok [does the gesture in an ok-ish way]
W: doesn't work
A: What do you mean it doesn't work?
W: I click and nothing happens, you see?
A: No, I can not see. Describe to me what you are seeing
B: There are things, and they do not do things when I click (the least accurate description in the history of descriptions)
A: Give me the headset, let me try it for myself
A: [proceed to do the hand click the right way]
A: it works for me

@benz145 Quite curious what the optimal WiFi setup should look like. (I don’t have the latest and greatest). Assuming the headset requires a high bandwidth connection for virtual 4k displays.
