@Cade_XR Fair enough. My point was more that we can now do cinema quality videos with short text prompts. When something as seemingly easy as adding legs to avatars to make them more realistic wasn't even possible 1/2 years ago. I'm ok with Meta's decision.

@XRandrew On the legs, so why have a IK system that would distract from the simpler design philosophy Meta wasn't unable to do legs, they just didn't do legs.

Six months ago, the 7th largest company in the world couldn't even render legs on avatars. Now we have Sora doing incredibly cinematic videos w/ just a text prompt. Life moves quickly...

@XRandrew A bit of a strange comparison, it's not that meta couldn't render legs, they chose not to and made a more simplistic visual style so it could run smoothly on their own mobile hardware. It was a stylistic choice, not a technical issue

I went to the Best Buy to see the lines for the “superior” product (Zuckerberg’s XR). This is the store nearest Meta’s headquarters in Silicon Valley. Superior product leads to lines. Everyone can buy both Apple and Meta and return the one they don’t want.

@cixliv Could be you've become desensitized to XR. Like I really used to love watching movies as a kid. Now that I know how the sausage is made, and I know plot twists before they happen, movies just don't hit the same. They do help me fall asleep on planes though.

I miss the golden PCVR days so much. Using Vision Pro is cool but it's not the same. I felt magic when with the Vive with Space Pirate Trainer. I felt a magic that made me dedicate 10 years of my life to VR. Something died between then and now. We need to find that magic again.
