@GoodmanHoops Nashville is fine. New Orleans is a hole. San Antonio is great. Orlando would be excellent too.

LeBron James on playing the Grizzlies: “I’m f***ing 41 years of age. You think I want to do sh** in Memphis on a random Thursday? I’m not the first guy in the NBA to talk about this. You guys got to move the team… go over to Nashville already.” (via @leaguealerts)

@ThisGuyNegative @RealBurtThomp @igTXSalazar The Titans didn’t sue anyone, and noting was litigated. The NFL sent a cease and desist letter, and Houston just ignored it. Also, the Oilers wore those colors because Kansas was Bud Adams’ alma mater, and those are the colors they wore at the time.

@KingGeneT_ @TlTsportstalk That’s not true, the Oilers picked those colors because they were Kansas’ at the time and that’s where Bud Adams went to college.

@TlTsportstalk Because the Oilers literally adopted the city’s colors when the franchise was created. The city flag and much of the civic design used powder blue Columbia blue so Bud didn’t choose that color as an original idea. It was selected because it was already the city’s color.

All I can think of with the Titan's new uniform - that blue belongs in Houston (and in College Football)

@Marcosp71451886 @chavarsekostah @ChattTitansFans The city did mild upgrades to feign an attempt at working with Adams. Really they sat on their hands while the stadium crumbled. By the 90s it was leaking and the turf was in such disrepair a game had to be rescheduled. They intentionally forced Bud Adams’ hand for new ownership.

Whether you love the new jerseys… Or hate the new jerseys… Or are even just so-so on the new jerseys… Houston is BIG MAD about it. And that, my friends, is a win for all of us. Titan Up!

@InsideTFsHead @McClain_on_NFL He didn’t permanently bury the Oilers. They literally wore Oilers throwbacks in 2009 when he was still the owner.

@McClain_on_NFL The problem is have with this is that in 1999 Bud decided to permanently bury the Oilers name and any connection to Houston when the team became the "Titans". That made it unlike any team relocation such as the Rams, Chargers, Cardinals and Raiders. So why resurrect Oilers now?

It continues to amaze me that so many in Houston think the Texans could get back the Oilers colors, name and uniforms. It can't happen. The Texans don't want them. Nobody will ever be able to get them because the NFL - and the Titans - have a legal document explaining it.

@WadeBazar @McClain_on_NFL You don’t know the story. The Oilers weren’t taken. City leaders didn’t like Adams, and they assumed the NFL would let the city retain branding like Cleveland got to. Told Bud they wouldn’t build a stadium, but then started planning a new one the second the ink dried in Nashville

@McClain_on_NFL “Could” and “should” are two different things. The Oilers and Titans are two different franchises to most sane folks who know the story of how they were taken from us. The whole thing was a big “FU” to the city from the Adams family.

@chavarsekostah @ChattTitansFans We didn’t take their team, Houston kicked them out. Also, that color scheme was lifted from the university of Kansas, where Bud Adams when to college, who wore powder blue in the 50s. The Titans and Oilers have a shared history, and these new uniforms celebrate both.

@ChattTitansFans I feel like if you actually cared about your teams history pre Tennessee then you wouldn’t have this much animosity towards Houston…you took their team, & now the oilers exact color scheme & your franchise clearly wants the oilers to be apart of their look & honor that history

@NickScurfield Bud Adams took those colors from Kansas because he went to school there. The Texans stole their name from the Chiefs. None of the stuff you think belongs to Houston is original.

@SADDAY_EVERYDAY @NFL @Titans 1. The Titans retained the Oilers branding and have worn Oilers uniforms in Tennessee in 97, 98, 09, 23, and 24. 2. The Titans rebrand isn’t using the Oilers name or logo. 3. Houston isn’t referenced at all in any of this. 4. I don’t care what Nationals fans think.

@SADDAY_EVERYDAY @NFL @Titans Your original point is clearly wrong. The Titans don’t lean into their old city more than teams called the Dodgers. You’re just used to them being in LA so you don’t see it as deeply referential to Brooklyn. The Titans are only referencing the organization they have always been.

@GallantSays They ripped it off of Titans/Oilers who ripped it off of the University Kansas in the late 50s. None of this was ever a Houston specific color scheme, and the current Houston NFL ripped their name off from the Chiefs.

@SADDAY_EVERYDAY @NFL @Titans Minnesota is called the land of 10,000 lakes. Jazz is from New Orleans. Your issue isn’t that the Titans reference their old city, it’s that they changed their branding, and then occasionally wear throwbacks, and more recently made their branding align more with their history.
