@4TaxFairness Wealthy people already pay almost all the income taxes. So this war is paid for by them and buyers of US debt. No developed country has a more progressive tax system than the US, based on taxes paid. cato.org/blog/united-st…

The war in Iran has already cost us $200 BILLION. Who's gonna pay for that? It shouldn't be working people, who oppose the war and are already struggling to keep their heads above water. Wealthy elites wanted this war. They're the ones benefiting. Tax them and make them pay.

@TomSteyer So keeping your own income is now "theft." Curious - did you pay ordinary income rates or capital gains from your 20% incentive fee at Farallon? No? You paid cap gains or zero if unrealized? Guess you're a thief you hypocrite

Since 2012, California's wealthy commercial property owners have avoided $243 billion in taxes. That's theft from our schools and communities. I'm going to close that corporate tax loophole and put money back into Californians' pockets.

We can no longer tolerate a rigged tax code that enables billionaires to pay a lower effective tax rate than the average worker & corporations like Tesla & Palantir to pay ZERO in federal income taxes while making billions in profits. Yes. The wealthy must pay their fair share.

@katieporterca Why are you OK with your buddies using NGOs to steal taxpayer money? We have a for profit HC system. Don’t like it? Get a Constitutional Amendment to make HC a right. Otherwise stop the government waste and theft

Why are we okay with 18% of our healthcare premiums going to administrative overhead, marketing, and CEO bonuses? That’s money stripped from our nurses, our hospitals, and our families. California can—and must—do better.
Katie Porter@katieporterca

Donald Trump’s attack on our healthcare funding is a crisis, but it can also be an opportunity. If the federal government won’t protect Californians, we will build a system that does. A single-payer system that belongs to us.

@JFowlerESPN @Tim_McManus Utterly ridiculous garbage from ESPN yet again. Lurie LOVES Hurts. He's not going anywhere. I'm not even a huge Hurts fan, but this is obvious to anyone with a brain. Which rules out ESPN

Ok, Jamie: Let me clear things up for you. If my 5% wealth tax on billionaires was enacted you’d owe $135 million more in taxes & a family of 4 making $150,000 or less would receive a $12,000 payment. Oh, and you’d still be worth more than $2.5 billion. Seems pretty fair to me.

Hollywood is leaving because California has become unaffordable. Yes, we need state investment and tax credits. But we also need housing, single-payer health care, and lower utility bills. That's how we make Los Angeles the most competitive place to film in the world.

The #Patriots and #Eagles have a deal already in place for AJ Brown for June 2nd. Roseman and Wolf agreed to the framework of a deal that goes as follows: #Patriots receive: AJ Brown, 2027 5th round pick #Eagles receive: Demario Douglas, Efton Chism, 2027 3rd round pick

@Chase_Senior This is such a disingenous and misleading post. Only $4mm of his 2027 comp is guaranteed. He was never seeing any of the money after 2026 no matter what -- trade or release. On no planet were they paying him in 2027, 2028 and 2029. It'd be nice if people understood contracts

Did you know that the Eagles can actually SAVE money by trading AJ Brown? Everybody talks about the $40+ million dead cap charge if he's moved pre-June 1, but... - There would be major savings in 2027, '28, '29 - Brown is scheduled to count for $133 million on the cap - If AJ is traded, all of that money is off the books for the Eagles - Eagles would save $113 million in cash payouts, including $29 million in 2026 #Eagles

@EliotShorrParks You really are an idiot. This has nothing to do with Brown. If they are going to trade AJ, they are going to draft someone with size. A 5'9" receiver isn't here to replace AJB.

Some thoughts on the Eagles signing Marquise “Hollywood” Brown: ** As a depth player Brown is a fine, regular signing. He hasn’t put up big numbers since 2021 and put up average numbers (587 yards, 5 TD) last season with the Chiefs. He is a fine, backup veteran WR. ** This is a surprising signing — and the money feels like the most noteworthy part. Without seeing the contract the report of the Eagles giving Brown “up to” $6.5m is very surprising. That’s a decent chunk of money for a WR that presumably won’t be getting the ball much. Unless…. ** Everything ties back to AJ Brown and that’s especially true when it comes to a wide receiver signing. Paying WR3 and like the 5th option on th offense “up to” $6.5 million is a lot of money for a player that if AJ is here won’t be getting the ball much. If AJ isn’t here, Brown still shouldn’t get the ball a ton, but at least the money makes more sense as a veteran WR to pair with Devonta, a rookie and (hopefully) another, veteran WR that is more of a true WR1. ** Despite being only 5-9 it is worth noting that Brown played both the slot and the outside last season and has been able to do so throughout his career. So he can lineup at different spots on the field.

Breaking: The #Eagles are signing former #Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a 1-year, deal worth up to $6.5M, multiple sources tell me. The explosive Brown had 49 catches for 587 yards and 5 TDs last season.

I’m not sold on the terminal significance of June 1 re: AJ Brown. If two sides are agree to make a deal happen in a given way, I have to think there’s a way. In baseball they used a player to be named later, for instance. In the NBA, teams make draft picks for other teams, etc
