Surely a simple fix is that for the first few years, doctors dont recieve the 23% employer contributions to the pension scheme, but have it added to gross pay instead, doctors get more net pay, costs the #NHS nothing extra #doctorsstrike

@jdgsport Does it actually matter? For the most part they are recruiting in completely different player pools, if sl crippled the salary cap, the players wouldn't get any better, they would just get paid more,

Interesting that in the list of Australian excuses for the World Club Challenge results favouring Super League teams of late that the disparity in salary cap the other way is never mentioned.

Understand there was a teenage Warrington Wolves fan who was allegedly attacked by a Widnes Vikings fan last night outside the stadium. The Warrington fan fell, hit his head on the concrete, had a bleed on the brain and is in hospital. Warrington officials are aware and have been supporting the family.

🤝 Tim Holmes was on hand to give long-standing season ticket holder Maurice his 2026 season card when he came down to the DCBL Stadium this week! 🙌 Flying the flag in hostile territory, living in St Helens. Maurice still comes down to all our home fixtures! #InOurDNA

Exclusive The RFL have released the central funding distribution model for the 2026 Championship competition to clubs and it is positive news with a number of clubs seeing increased central funding. Central funding in 2026 is once again linked to the IMG club grading system meaning the London Broncos will receive the highest amount of central funding (£147,000) in the Championship next season due to their IMG grading score of 11.65. The Barrow Raiders (£140,000), Widnes Vikings (£134,000), Sheffield Eagles (£128,000) and the Batley Bulldogs (£122,000) are the clubs ranked second to fifth and will receive increased central funding in 2026. It is worth noting that some Championship clubs in the newly merged competition will only receive £33,000 and £28,000. Thus being at the lower end of the IMG club grading system and central funding table. This shows that the dedicated owners of Rugby League clubs outside the top flight need deep pockets and strong financial commitment to ensure that their club can be competitive on and off the field. For Featherstone Rovers and the Salford Red Devils, they will be classed as new clubs and the new owners of both Featherstone and Salford would have to apply for new membership of the RFL. They would be considered new members of the RFL and Championship competition, so would need to agree terms with the RFL if they are invited to join the 2026 Championship. This direction of travel is currently expected by everyone.

Absolute carnage in the Super League this morning with Ben Garcia sent off for a brain explosion - throwing punches at the head of Elliot Minchella in a wild brawl. Catalans have capitulated in a disappointing first half.

Should Widnes have done more to block Ryan Lannon's move to Oldham? Some thoughts on the the player contract situation in the part-time game that's making things overly complicated and short-changing fans... widnesrugby.com/blogs/aussie-f…

Really disappointing to read @santanderuk closing branches across the UK. The staff who looked after me while dealing with my late father's estate made a difficult time of my life far easier. Banking might be about numbers, but it deals with people

By the time Widnes play Warrington in the Challenge Cup, they'll have played five away games (inc 3 in cups) and just one at home in 2025. This game and that one are the only two home games Widnes have until April.

The start of the new Championship season has been marked by controversy in game one. Initially, the referee awarded a try to Benjamin Laguerre, as Toulouse drew level at 18-18. However, the jubilation of Laguerre’s leveller was short-lived, as the referee quickly reversed his decision after consulting with his touch judge. There is nothing in the RFL match officials rule book which says that once a try has been awarded it can be ruled out. Widnes starting the new season with a controversial 18-14 win France.
