It’s the first true AI employee. The vision that has been with us since 2023 when we started the company has finally been shipped. Back then, it was just the two of us, with a very small but dedicated team, iterating for years. Failing multiple times. Showing products that users didn't even want to test! But we never gave up. Our decisions were often wrong. Certainly more often than not! We kept trying. Now we’ve shipped something people love. Worth every sleepless night. Every sacrifice. I'm hiring (and firing) right now like crazy. This is my first time hiring at an exponential rate instead of linear and it’s terrifying idk if im doing anything right but here’s 4 non-obvious signs I’ve found of a good hire: 1. Do they sign up for our product? This seems obvious, yet for some reason it isn't...? I cancel the interview if I see they haven't signed up before the call. Pathetic. Don't waste my time bro. It's a free trial. 2. Do they send me cool projects or credentials? I’m a dropout memelord. Idgaf where you went to college. My college is the internet. Show me what you built don’t come at me with the suma cum laude crap 3. Do they test our API? Having an API is the ultimate pre-interview to test high agency. APIs are permissionless. The best interviewees test it, abuse it and ask for more tokens, and post their projects. 4. The weirdest one: do they order our free team merch? When someone onboards, I give them a code for free merch. The 2 people who didn't order merch ended up being terrible fits and fired very quickly. Both of them showed a complete lack of care for the brand (and one even tried copying it months later). This one is weird. I think it just has something to do with dedication and authentic excitement about our brand.

Our biggest activation surprise this quarter is that I cannot describe our customer. Three Viktors in production this week: An 8-person AI newsletter has @get_viktor_com running 18 workflows for them, including a full-stack web app for tracking sales commissions. Role-based auth, multi-invoice support, auto-ingestion from two sales tools every 15 minutes. Pinned in their # commissions channel. The GM had DMed Viktor asking for help with a spreadsheet. A $10M Shopify brand had Viktor diagnose a checkout bug that had been silently throwing errors at real customers for months. 392 network requests per page load (normal range: 50 to 80), caused by 15 stacked checkout extensions and 10 web pixels tripping Shopify's bot protection. Months of complaints. Fixed in 10 minutes. A business coach in Brisbane has Viktor working his inbox from an iPhone at midnight. He called it the VA he could not find on Upwork. I watch our cohort data for a living. The job is, roughly: look at the people using your product, write down a sentence about them, hand the sentence to the rest of the org so everyone can stop arguing in meetings. We don't have the sentence. We have a media company building production software, a DTC operator running forensics on their own checkout, and a coach with no team at all. Same product. Same week. Different jobs in different languages on different continents. The thing that ties them is not vertical, headcount, or geography. It is, more or less, the moment someone notices they have 30 things they would delegate if they could. (Almost everyone, when asked, has 30 things.)
