This is the estate at Woodberry Down that @ZackPolanski turned up at Hackney Town Hall to STOP being built in 2019! It was a post-war failed estate in need of regeneration. At the time policy compliant: 5000 social, part buy & market tenancies. Everyone had a right to return.

To remind council’s don’t have foreign policies. @ZoeGarbett and @hackneygreens is running a fraudulent divestment campaign. They can’t use the council’s pension fund to target Gaza or any other state despite their manifesto pledge to do so.

Greens say they want off-shore wind but only if there are no new pylons, and not solar farms, and not private sector operators and they're not keen on tidal barrages either. Meanwhile, Labour get on and deliver.

We used to say you can’t out green the Greens. But with @zoegarbett and the @hackneygreens it’s easy. Whereas Garbett is signing yet more green pledges on what she might do, @Hackneylabour has been delivering for decades.

Almost all references to local government in the 2024 Green Manifesto depend on changes to legislation and an increase in central government funding for local authorities. What happens if neither of those things happen for years?

The Greens are projected to win Hackney, Lambeth, Lewisham & Waltham Forest in forthcoming council elections. The question is how will they run these councils differently to Labour? What immediate changes do they plan to make? Keen to chat to green figures about this. DMs open.

@PennyWrout @ZackPolanski If there was more money the priority of 3 and 4 bedroom properties would be met first. That’s what happened pre-2010. Development was mostly compliant with tenure mix.

.@ZackPolanski is ignorant. This is mostly a populist statement and pretty fraudulent. But also in effect supports councillors that make planning decisions for non-material reasons. The decision will be unlawful and easily overturned in court and cost councils a small fortune.

.@ZackPolanski is running fraudulent campaigns. It’s not lawful to refuse planning applications for the reason of: “because it’s an unaffordable luxury development” He is ignorant and will destabilise local government decision making leading to less, not more affordable housing.

There's going to be an almighty row in the Greens between the left populists (who care about soundbites and opinion polls and aren't too fussed on detail) and the left ideologues (who love detail - the crazier the better). We've already seen this on the right with Farage v Lowe.

@JoshuaGarfield It’s such a pathetic campaign. It’s a lo profile twinning arrangement that does a little good. It’s mostly inactive.@zoegarbett and the @Hackneygreens have jumped onto any and every campaign. I hope people see through her miserable politics.

Haifa is one of few mixed cities in the Middle East, with a local government of Jews and Arabs. A perfect example for promoting coexistence and demonstrating the success of diverse societies like Hackney. The antisemitic detwinning campaign has never been interested in peace.
