@ID_AA_Carmack I’ve seen ambivalent but not hostile. Why would someone be hostile to preservation? I’m a big proponent of preserving knowledge. This is especially true in knowledge companies. Seems like… that’d be important. Am I wrong, internet?

For me, if we're talking pre-Rare Rare, then it's JetPac. If we're talking post-Ultimate Rare, then GoldenEye 007.

So, 28 years ago (29 Jan 1996) this happened. This is George Broussard pointing at my computer that is uploading the shareware version of Duke Nukem 3D to Software Creations for the first time. That was my bag then, uploading shareware episodes of games to Software Creations. This one was a big one, unleashing Duke to the world. I spot my trusty USRobotics HST modem on the side there, and my super massive CD burner to the side of the monitor still makes me laugh. One of my Dopefish mugs is to the right of the old CompuServe mouse pad.

@Commodork The rated capacity will be at nominal cell voltage, probably 3.7v, and there'll be voltage conversion losses to take into account. Then it's affected by temperature, load and other variables. You'll get less energy delivered at a high discharge rate (e.g. 2A vs 1A). It's messy!

The reason I ask is because I bought a 36,000mAh power bank off of Amazon. I hooked it up to a dummy load with 5v/2a draw and the pack appears to have died after serving about 5,000mAh so either I did something wrong, I'm misunderstanding something, or this thing is doo doo.

Where are my electrician friends at? If I have a USB power bank that holds 10,000mAh, is that number affected by other variables? For example, is it both 10,000mAh at 5v/1a and 5v/2a? I thought it was a constant but I'm second guessing myself.

@burgesst @justJaime2020 @thecomputerclan The one with a notch is an IEC C15 plug/C16 socket and must be rated for higher pin temperatures (120°C). The one without the notch is an IEC C13 plug/C14 socket and is rated for 70°C. They're all rated for the same current, and they're all IEC.

@benjedwards My favourite hobby is never getting around to setting up the NTSC-J Dreamcast I picked up last time I was in Japan. And never playing any of the games I bought for it.

Think back to when you had a 286 or 386 based PC (the rest of you can get back to your avocado toast 😉 ) - what was your favorite development platform / tool / IDE?

With a week out from the con, we wanted to shout out to all our sponsors! 💸 We wouldn't be able to keep tickets cheap and still put on a ✨sparkly show✨without their help - and they really just do it for the renown, acclaim, and warm fuzzies
