@BrknMan @DeborahMeaden You can only get heat pump dryers in Northern Ireland since summer last year due to the special EU rules it comes under. The world didn’t end, and despite Northern Ireland being in the UK none of the right wing rags like the Daily Fail got worked up over it then.

Just look at a site like Currys.
A heat pump dryer is no more expensive than others, but saves over £1000 over its lifespan in lower running costs.
Tbh the market has already made its mind up. 80% of dryers on the market are now heat pump.

What the article conveniently forgets to mention is that in 2021, the Johnson government had local elections scheduled for parts of Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and Somerset which were postponed by one year to May 2022 to apparently facilitate local government reorganisation.
