@AlAlphaResearch @EricLDaugh Americans aren't fools. Takaichi failed to show gratitude ,or commit to joining the U.S. in military action against Iran. Instead, she offered empty platitudes about only Trump bring world peace and only U.S. can restore the Strait of Hormuz. She completely missed the point.
English

Bringing up the term “defeated nation” at this point feels like an outdated perspective, nearly 80 years after the war.
It’s true that Japan remains highly dependent on the Middle East for energy (about 95% of its crude oil imports come from the region, with roughly 70% passing through the Strait of Hormuz), making it particularly vulnerable to developments involving Iran. That’s a fact.
But precisely because of that, Japan is not engaging in “flattery” through diplomacy it is pursuing pragmatic cooperation. The world is no longer one where a single country can isolate itself and still succeed. The U.S., Europe, Japan, China, and India alike would all feel the impact if the Strait of Hormuz were closed; the energy market is fundamentally global and interconnected.
Rather than resorting to labels like “defeated nation,” wouldn’t it be more constructive to discuss how to ensure stable energy supplies together, and how to advance decarbonization and diversification?
The world is one. This is an era where cooperation matters more than division.

🚨 WOW! Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi just STUNNED the world, declaring only President Trump can achieve peace as he decimates the Iranian regime
"I firmly believe that it is only you, Donald, who can achieve peace across the world!"
"And to do so, I am ready to reach out to many of the partners in the international community to achieve our objective together!"
"So today, I came here at the White House to directly convey this message to you." 🔥

@AlAlphaResearch @EricLDaugh This is a massive diplomatic blunder by the Takaichi administration. She tried to place Japan on equal footing with the U.S.—much like Ukraine did before—instead of showing gratitude for American protection! In the end, she reaped the same humiliation as Zelenskyy.

@hmmmmmmmway @1984mz @cspan The journalist’s remarks are a total insult to Americans. Japan is a defeated nation—what right do they have to demand that the U.S. report its military actions to them? No wonder Trump acts so abrasive.

As a Japanese citizen, I want to add context here.
PM Takaichi’s words to Trump reflect a calculated diplomatic strategy, not personal admiration.
Japan is in a difficult position. The Iran war is disrupting the Strait of Hormuz. Japan imports roughly 90% of its oil, and a significant portion transits through that route. Energy security is an existential concern, not a talking point.
Takaichi came to Washington with a specific agenda: finalize $ 550B in US investment commitments, secure AI and semiconductor cooperation across 7 technology fields, and avoid being dragged into a Middle East conflict that Japan has no legal or political framework to join.
Telling Trump he is “the only one who can achieve peace” costs nothing diplomatically. Getting the investment agreements signed and keeping Japan out of direct military involvement is the actual objective.
Japan has a long tradition of this kind of strategic flattery with US presidents. Abe perfected it with Trump 1.0.
The real story from today’s summit isn’t the quote. It’s the $ 550B investment framework, the AI infrastructure cooperation agreement, and what it means for the US-Japan allied supply chain versus China.
That’s what I’m watching.

Takaichi came to offer loyalty.
Trump answered with Pearl Harbor.
That tells you everything about the so-called alliance.
Japan can flatter Washington, echo its wars, and condemn its enemies,
but the moment America wants to reassert hierarchy,
Japan is no longer an ally.
It is a defeated nation being reminded of its place.
The most tragic thing about a vassal is not being used.
It is offering loyalty and still being treated like historical property.

JUST IN: China has stopped exporting fertilizers, and concerning developments have finally begun. This time it involves compound fertilizers made of nitrogen and potassium. However, Japan relies on imports from China to secure about 75% of its ammonium phosphate needs and 25% of its urea needs. If this source is cut off, Japanese agriculture will suffer a severe blow, and the population may find it difficult to meet its basic needs.
