For the @nytimes, I wrote about how cruel and horrific Ebola is, as both a provider, and as a patient.
I tried to reflect the science, and the profound sadness.
Very grateful to my editor, who pushed me to make this more personal. I usually avoid doing so. For reasons that become clear at the end of this piece.

A Ukrainian robotic evacuation vehicle equipped with an armored capsule successfully rescued a wounded soldier from a frontline position.
During the extraction, the vehicle struck two mines on its return route. Despite the blasts, the armored capsule protected the wounded serviceman from shrapnel, allowing the mission to be completed successfully. The soldier was evacuated and transferred for further medical treatment.

• Distance covered: 36.5 km
• Average speed: 15 km/h
• Top speed: 70 km/h

Перший медичний х "Скеля": витягти пораненого з передової Отримали запит на порятунок бійця, який отримав поранення внаслідок штурмових дій. Поранений знаходився на позиціях, що були в напівоточенні. Було прийнято рішення евакуювати засобами НРК. Дорога до пораненого пройшла без ускладнень. На зворотньому шляху був здійснений наїзд на дві протипіхотні міни. На щастя, поранений не зазнав додаткових уражень. Боєць був успішно евакуйований та проходить лікування на подальшому етапі. Тривалість місії: 2 год 13 хв; Протяжність маршруту: 36,5 км; Середня швидкість: 15 км/год; Максимальна швидкість: 70 км/год. Це не перша операція Першого медичного спільно з 425 ОШП "Скеля". Кожен український захисник має знати: за нього будуть боротися!

I have just received information from my officials which details the appalling abuse of Canadians who were detained in Israel.
These Canadians have now arrived in Türkiye. Global Affairs consular officials on the ground are ensuring that they receive urgent medical care as required so that they can return home as soon as possible.
Canada unequivocally condemns the grave mistreatment of Canadians in Israel. Those responsible for this egregious abuse must be held accountable. We will continue to provide additional information as it becomes available.

After 4 years of activity, NAFO fellas are still at it, supporting Ukraine in various ways. Більшу частину свого життя я ношу військовий однострій. Але вишиванка для мене – це про пам’ять. Про дім, родину, дитинство, про людей, яких уже немає поруч, але які завжди в наших думках.
Сьогодні Всесвітній день вишиванки. Колись це була ініціатива кількох студентів, а тепер День вишиванки став справді світовим. Українські вишиванки одягають у різних країнах, на фронті й у тилу, у великих містах і маленьких селах.
У цьому, мабуть, є щось дуже важливе для всіх нас – навіть у найважчі часи пам’ятати, хто ми та звідки.
І я вірю, що настане день, коли ми зможемо зняти військові однострої та знов одягнути вишиті сорочки – уже в мирній, вільній і безпечній Україні.
З Днем вишиванки! Бережімо своє!

At my direction, Global Affairs officials summoned Israel’s ambassador regarding the treatment of Canadian citizens on board the flotilla. I can confirm that all Canadians who were on board are safe and are in the process of being transferred to Türkiye. Consular officials will be present to meet and support Canadians upon their arrival in Istanbul. Officials at our Embassy in Tel Aviv have been engaged throughout and remain on standby to provide immediate assistance. Canada expects full respect for the rights and safety of all civilians.
