@vitaelectrical @electrician_247 If they are all registered as apprentices and ‘supervised’ they can by pass new requirements. How much supervision is debatable but can see it happening

People wonder how and why we get elements of training siloed off to deliver "competence" It is because the training sector has created the illusion of said competence inside 3-5 days for a whole range of things. Most recently solar PV. We reap what we so and still today we have unethical providers marketing accelerated apprenticeships and electrician plus. I am embarresed for them but admire the brass neck around the business element to it! Right now we have government policy to bypass wiring regulations and product standards around plug in solar and now sections of our apprenticeship framework pulled out to train in limited areas of our trade and most likely also circumnavigate around MCS and such to export MPANs. Now I wonder if energy retailers and manufacturers are driving this. I warned around and evolve or die result and think we are seeing very clearly that in action. Very much hope to be wrong but when you fuel unethical training and lower bar after bar after bar. Well here we are. I intend to raise a call to action similar to that of what was done around safe isolation and get this sorted out.

@SulisElectrical @electrician_247 Iam wondering if these big utilities will try circumvent the October requirements with mass training for their people I know that when the cable run is not standard length they have to get the think squad in to install

@EquinoxElec @credwards @NordluxUK We've just installed some expensive outdoor lanterns where the silly plastic connector was deeper than the recess on the back of the fittings 🤷

@vitaelectrical @credwards @NordluxUK You said it….. these actually go one step further on the buggeration level…the top lamp holder pulls up and down to release the diffuser….right past the cable entry. You couldn’t write the design idiocy here…

@TheSolarShed Aagree for the most part- but have you read the report from the Spanish horrendous power cut, and I mean the whole report? Scary. Like it or not we have a serious problem going forward partic given the energy sucked up by AI. A country’s AC supply will always req nuclear/gas etc

They fear us because we’ve realised something. Energy doesn’t have to come from oil fields, pipelines or power stations anymore. It can come from rooftops. And once people control their own energy… the old system loses its power.

In April, energy prices will come *down* £117 a year and minimum wage will go *up* £950 a year. Making someone on minimum wage £1067 a year better off. This Labour govt, like all govt’s, has made mistakes but not doing enough to tackle the cost of living isn’t one of them.

This rests on the *global* benefits of lowered carbon emissions. That's dubious: we are 0.8% of global emissions and most of the rest of the world isn't decarbonising nearly as aggressively as us. If we only consider benefits to the UK, the costs of Net Zero exceed the benefits.
