I'm often asked which is better: Snowflake or Google BigQuery.
It doesn't matter.
Snowflake is a Table Game; Google Cloud is a Casino

@FrankDenneman ELT by default. Use the power of your DW cluster's hw parallelism, SQL and the query planner/optimiser. For streams, ELT microbatches.
ETL if you have to sanitise things on-prem before sending them out, or if filtering/consolidation would cut data transfer costs.
Wrapping my head around ETL vs ELT and whether streaming data vs (on-prem) data sources impact the decision to do either ETL or ELT. Any takes on this? #ML#DataScience#AI#machinelearning
Teradata hardware support is available for several non-EOL models. Teradata system owners can freeze the DBMS version and just pay for 3rd party hardware support. No more enforced DBMS upgrades or costly support & maintenance. #teradata#hardware#support
@GDPRTiger@FCDWhittaker@grumbledook@Schools_ABC@defenddigitalme@libertyhq That’s a million miles better than the DfE template all schools seem to use.
Acid test : give a random teacher their own school privacy notice and see if they can accurately describe where (controllers/processors) their MIS data ends up, why (necessity) and lawful basis.
@GDPRTiger@FCDWhittaker@grumbledook@Schools_ABC@defenddigitalme@libertyhq Agreed. More fundamentally each & every instance of collection, storage and processing of PII needs a separate lawful basis. I’ve yet to see a single privacy notice that a parent/pupil could understand that paints a full, clear picture with each lawful basis laid out.
@vldbio@FCDWhittaker@grumbledook@Schools_ABC@defenddigitalme@libertyhq And this is where we start asking "what do people mean by 'sharing'?" I still have to battle through DPAs/PNs from school suppliers who say they share with partners and 3rd parties such as X, but on digging they mean they use X as a sub-processor. Language is key!
@PrivacyMatters@LloydsBank@LBGplc@ICOnews having established that LBG has no contact email address, and that the contact phone number is in fact a staff switchboard, how can I find the contact details for the @LBGplc (*not* @LloydsBank) Data Protection Officer (DPO)?
@LloydsBank Ok, the contact number you refer to isn’t a general enquiries number. It’s a staff switchboard. I called it on Friday. It seems that @LBGplc doesn’t want to be contacted 😰
