18 years ago today we lost Marine Thomas "Vinders" Curry. On 13 January 2007, Vinders died instantly as a result of enemy small arms fire when elements of 42 Commando were engaged in close-quarter fighting with the Taleban near Kajaki, in Northern Helmand. He was just 21. He received a posthumous Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Afghanistan. Gone but not forgotten Royal. See you at the reorg.

Tonight my son told me he would be home from the gym later than usual because he's walking a girl to where she needs to be because a man at the gym would not stop harassing her or take no for an answer He's done the right thing even though we were all anxious about it

Pointed one of my juniors in the direction of @PoppyLegion as she’s a young single mum moving in to her SFA + it’s proving expensive. She applied for a cost of living grant at 9pm last night, and got an email first thing this AM to arrange the delivery of a washing machine + fridge freezer. Such a valuable source of support, please don’t struggle in silence. britishlegion.org.uk/get-support/fi…

If anyone needs me, I’ll be watching this passage of play on repeat for the rest of the night #NetballNationsCup

17 years ago, two Commandos strapped themselves to the winglets of an Apache gunship to recover LCpl Matthew Ford from Jugroom Fort on Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
