Inspectors from the @vmdKenya and the @kenyavetboard held a joint meeting with their CEOs to strengthen collaboration on sensitization, training, information sharing, and inspections. A joint committee has been established to develop a framework for structured partnership.

CS Hon. Sen. Mutahi Kagwe has opposed proposals to merge regulation of human and veterinary medicines, citing risks to public health, and livestock production. During a visit to VMD, he reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strong, independent veterinary medicines regulation.

The CS for Agriculture and Livestock Development @CSMoALD accompanied by the Principal Secretary @jmueke paid a courtesy visit to (VMD) to engage on the state of veterinary medicines regulation in Kenya and the importance of maintaining strong, science-based oversight frameworks.

Proper regulation of veterinary medicines is essential for food safety, public health and protecting farmers’ livelihoods. Strengthening the Veterinary Medicines Directorate rather than weakening its mandate helps keep both consumers and animals safe. Accompanied Cabinet Secretary Hon. Sen.
