For 125 years, a group of Catholic nuns in New York have run a FREE hospice called Rosary Hill Home. They take care of poor people dying from cancer no charge, ever. Just pure Christian charity.
Then Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a law a few years ago that forces EVERY nursing home to use preferred pronouns, house patients by gender identity (not biological sex), and let people into opposite-sex bathrooms and spaces.
The nuns said: “We treat everyone with dignity… but we can’t do that. It goes against our Catholic faith.”
So New York is now threatening them with $5,000–$10,000 fines per violation, loss of their license, and jail time.
These sisters who’ve spent their whole lives caring for the dying are being told: obey the gender rules or shut down.

Yesterday was my third echocardiogram since the heart failure episode on December 21st. The ECG on the 22nd showed my heart was operating at less than 10% capacity. (Ejection Fraction, or EF, they call it.) By late January my EF had improved to 22.4% on the second ECG.
Yesterday was tough. The EchoTech turned out to be the most beautiful human I’ve ever seen in any healthcare occupation. During the ECG I was able to watch the screen as her fingers flew across control panel, taking screenshots of my heart at various phases of its operation, and making complicated measurements. But every few seconds I’d divert my eyes to her face … and my heart would skip a beat.
The good news is my EF has improved to 44.6% … on most heart beats. But every 2nd or 3rd beat it drops to 30%, so she said she will have to report the average. I think the anomaly is suspect, considering who performed the ECG and that her face was only inches away from mine during the procedure. I’m going to have to ask my cardiologist for a redo by some older fat dude.
Bottom line … I’m still alive. In more ways than one. 😏

So now I have to decide: Do i try to finish it with what's left of the rake? Sacrificing what little of my back is left? Or do I drive around town hoping to find a quality rake in stock? Decisions....decisions....
