Already 450+ artists strong and growing, this team is helping tell global stories right from our city. Their recent film Leo reached #1 in 62 countries, showing what happens when you invest in talent, creativity, and community. This studio is also a real economic driver, contributing over $50M during construction and continuing to support jobs and growth in Vancouver. Proud to see Vancouver continue to lead as a global hub for film, animation, and innovation.

Great to meet with Ana Bailão, CEO of Build Canada Homes, to discuss how we can work together to build more homes, faster. We highlighted Vancouver’s priorities, including replacing aging SROs, and advancing non-market housing, and how they align with the federal goal of delivering affordable housing at scale. Vancouver is ready to work collaboratively to get homes built.

We're investing $104 million over the next four years to improve roads and sidewalks across Vancouver. This will allow for the complete upgrade of 15 to 20 arterial corridors, 800 blocks of local roads, and 28km of sidewalks. The funds represent a ‘Maximum Delivery Capacity’ scenario and a 204% increase over the previous administration’s $34 million allocation. This move is just one of the ways we’re focusing on the core services Vancouverites rely on every day.

Yesterday, I signed an Agreement in Principle with Minister @christineeboyle to replace the Luugat Hotel, St. Helen's Hotel, and Granville Villa in the Granville Entertainment District with new housing located outside the area. For months, we have been calling for a clear plan to transition residents out of these aging buildings and into better, purpose-built housing with the supports they need. This agreement is an important step forward, helping residents move into higher-quality housing outside the Granville Entertainment District while allowing Granville Street to move forward as a safe and vibrant entertainment corridor. This is real progress for Granville Street, for local businesses, and for workers.

Last week, the Provincial Government approved the VPD's new training academy. We know this is going to be a significant step forward for public safety in our city. Having the Woodward's complex in Gastown as the home of this new academy will help bring daily activity to the surrounding community while supporting the next generation of VPD officers.
