Last night, the POA-funded council members Phil Bacerra, David Penaloza and Mayor Valerie Amezcua refused to cancel an election that is no longer certified by the county and disenfranchises almost 1,200 voters. And they knew it.

Rather than protecting people's voting rights and our city, Valerie Amezcua, Phillip Bacerra, and David Penaloza heard the voices of disenfranchised voters, particularly Latino renters who are experiencing voter suppression, and chose to turn their backs on them. 1/1

Our cities used to be built like college campuses. They were walkable communities with mixed housing styles, civic centers, public spaces, and other amenities all woven closely together. College campuses are designed for people. Let's start designing our cities that way.
