Why is Gov. Braun spending $15 million on Israeli tech firms? He has made a huge deal about the IEDC being far too focused on attracting large, out-of-state companies to Indiana. "The last administration — and maybe the conventional way — was to only try to hook the whales that cost a fortune, and they don't really help a broad spectrum of your state," Braun said (in @indystar). "We all want to be on the leading edge of finding the high (capital expenditure), the leading-edge job growth (projects). But if that's your only focus, it's probably not going to benefit enough of the state." Now, the state is spending $15 million on connecting local businesses with Israeli tech companies and getting those tech companies to establish headquarters in the state.
