Today Canada became weaker. Bill C-5 gives unchecked powers in a few officials, overrides laws of Parliament, & steamrolls constitutional rights. Our economy won’t grow by creating conditions of uncertainty & conflict… Our sovereignty is not protected by being anti-democratic.

So far, Question Period is questions that are full of half truths and responses that are vacuous, non-answers, platform recommitments, and also, in one bold example, flat out inaccurate statement from the Prime Minister.

@yegwave Varinder has done more for edmonton than sohi has. I'm more inclined to believe Varinder's claims tbh just out of what I've witnessed in their characters

Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi has filed a lawsuit against three Alberta individuals, accusing Varinder Bhullar, Bob Rai, and Abdusselam Huzeyfe Bezirgan of making defamatory statements about him with the intent to harm his reputation. The statement of claim alleges that Bezirgan, who identifies as a journalist, released a 2024 video series accusing Sohi of involvement in criminal activities and corruption. It claims Rai was the source, and together they alleged Sohi and a relative improperly benefited from a Regina infrastructure project, with Sohi using his influence as a federal minister to secure a trucking contract for a related company. Bhullar is accused of sharing the videos and adding his own false claims. These allegations have not been proven in court. The claim also states that Sohi has faced death threats and other forms of harassment linked to the defendants' false accusations, and that his home was vandalized "due to the direct and indirect lies the defendants have spread about him."
