The report referred to how misinformation could be weaponised to inflame community tensions, citing Leciester unrest of 2022 as an example of how "viral, harmful content can destabilise communities." The report also said: " Unrest in Leicester in 2022 was partly linked to the import of nationalist rhetoric and religious extremism, creating tensions between the city’s Hindu and Muslim communities.” The Hindu Council UK said:- "The Government’s statement includes rightfully the dangers of misinformation but the Hindu community has no faith in its policy implementation, for the following examples: a) Hindu temples and homes were attacked in the cohesive Leicester city during 2022, whilst the MCHLG statement blames foreign right wing ideology from India this blaming the Hindus. b) Ram Mandir Peterborough faces closure by what we have seen are underhand and non-transparent policies of the new local council government. c) Harrow Siddhashram’s recent Holi celebrations were attacked by a group of 20 youths and yet the Harrow police statement seemed to have played down this vicious attack on the peaceful celebrants."
