@rockwiz38 I assume the fans each week will make their feelings clear on Foot each time he takes the field. Wonder if the microphones will pick that up.

@Thomo_Grant The only acceptable outcome when he requested approval for his role at Sportsbet is he was stood down and removed from umpiring matches. So the AFL does the complete opposite. Obviously

Are they playing #AFLDonsDees in India or something? Trash all over the place.

I’m not a Hawks fan but god they are being screwed by the umpires. They’re not even hiding the bias! #AFLHawksCats

Hawks were the better team all day except for one short period in the 2nd quarter. On an even playing field that's a 5 goal win. Will want to have a look at the umpires' betting slips after that one.

Just realised, once again shit hiring. Gunston hits the post and Geelong plays on immediately before the goal umpires had finished signalling. Should've been brought back. Just shitful.

Collingwood supporter and watching the game it soooo obvious the umpires are favouring Geelong 20 free kicks to 10 and so many missed to hawthorn, they really wreck the game #AFLHawksCats

@Thomo_Grant Better luck next time umpires. Bookies will want to speak to their yellow employees #AFLHawksCats

@JEChalmers Keep the 6c and put it into rapid development of refinery and drilling plus the legal fees for taking back control of any other foreign owned energy exports.

BREAKING: We've secured a deal that will deliver an extra 6c a litre of petrol price relief for Australians, to add to the 26c we delivered earlier this week.
Today the states and territories have agreed to provide another $400M of fuel relief, through an additional cut to the fuel excise for three months, saving you an extra 6c per litre.
This is on top of halving the fuel excise, bringing our total relief to 32c per litre every time you fill up.

@countdraghula @TLangle49256185 We got a few quotes - just prior to "price rises" - and they were already out of control - $4,000+/m² reno/extension. We just weren't willing to pay for their fleet of Toyota Rouge/GRS Hilux's, Family LandCruisers (all upgraded) the search continues for someone reasonable.

@hashbrowne @MCG We got tickets before the world.. did what it does, we are already members so also didn't enjoy getting ripped off "upgrading" when only 70k were there. Our last chance to drive the car over 100kms without dropping $200+ on fuel? No more live games for us this year I think.
English

Ticketing fail @MCG tonight. 71k, reckon plenty stayed home because it was made an all-ticket affair. Hawks replacement game for members but not all that many there.

Jesse Peltan@JessePeltan
This is a way, WAY bigger deal than you think.

@BradKlibansky @BryanBrain Any Hawk fan paying attention since the preliminary final but actually much longer than that should not be confident our ruck will do anything positive...until Chol is put in there of course
English

@BryanBrain Blakiston looked excellent in pre-season. He’s got a great leap which is perfect for the new rules and terrible for Meek. Most Hawks fans won’t know who Blakiston is or will think Meek will easily beat him. That won’t happen.

✍️ Early Selection Dissection thoughts for Round 1 against Essendon 😬
For Hawthorn supporters expecting an easy win, it won’t happen. Other than ANZAC Day, this will be Essendon’s biggest game of the year.
Merrett. Caldwell. Durham. Parish, Roberts, Duursma & Fiorini is a decent midfield unit. If Hawthorn’s midfield play like they did against GWS, Essendon will win this game.
After round 1, Hawthorn play- Sydney, Geelong & the Bulldogs. They’ve also got Gold Coast, Collingwood and Fremantle away in the first 9 weeks. 0-2 would be panic stations.
Under the pump 😰
Finn Maginness- will be omitted for Mackenzie. 7th year on the list and still not sure what his role is. Was an elite tagger in 2023. Why change that? Disposal not close to AFL standard.
Massimo D’Ambrosio- had a very inconsistent 2025 and was lucky there was no depth in his position. Started 2026 poorly. Lacks pace and size. Must find more of the ball and use it well.
Harry Morrison- plays well against poor team but struggles against quality opponents. Lacks the size and pace to play modern day wing.
Mitch Lewis- 4 disposals, 3 marks and 1 goal in the first 3/4’s. Got junk time disposals in the last quarter. He won’t have the luxury of many more performances like Saturday if he wants to hold his spot. Strong depth at VFL level.
Lloyd Meek - his pre-season form was a big worry and it carried over. Got well beaten by Kieren Briggs in the centre - 7 clearances to 2 and lacked his usual physicality. Struggling with the new ruck rules. A big watch moving forward.
In the mix 🙋
Cam Mackenzie- missed the GWS game with concussion. His time to perform is now. Will get a massive opportunity this season to show why the club didn’t trade him and why he’s part of the future. Must start this week against the Bombers.
Bodie Ryan- Was close to a debut last season before getting injured. Was one of the best in the VFL practice match against Casey on Saturday. I fear another Jai Serong situation coming at the end of the season.
Clasher Dear - Kicked 2 goals in the VFL practice match. I would have him in over Lewis and would have played him yesterday. I can’t see it happening after listening to the coach speak recently. Will need 2-3 weeks of good performances in the VFL before being considered.
Ned Reeves - Unfortunately he sat out the last quarter in the VFL yesterday with ice on his hamstring. Hopefully just a precaution. With what we saw from Meek in pre-season and in the centre yesterday, he will be playing sooner rather than later.
Max Ramsden - Kicked 3 in the VFL and can also play ruck. Unfortunately plays a similar role to Mabior Chol. Another strong year in the VFL and he will be at another club in 2027 and beyond.
Bailey Macdonald- Could he be a different option on the wing or down back with his pace? Played as the sub 4 times in 2025. Foot skills still a worry.
Flynn Perez- Had a great pre-season and deserved his SSP selection. Was an emergency on Saturday, so must be very close. Move Amon to the wing or Impey forward and give Perez a crack across half back?
What changes are you making for Round 1 against the Bombers @hawksinsiders?
