This election was a clear vote for the BJP, with genuine voters decisively rejecting the TMC. Now, the TMC and a section of the media are attempting to attribute the BJP’s victory to SIR. But the data tells a very different story. Of the 207 seats won by the BJP, the victory margin in more than 170 seats exceeded the total non-ASD deletions. In over 130 seats, the winning margin was greater than 20,000 votes, hardly the outcome of any marginal adjustment. The verdict cuts across social and regional lines: - The BJP has won 12 seats with more than 40% Muslim population, including 4 where the Muslim population exceeds 50%. All of these are from the Maldah and Murshidabad regions. - In the Kolkata Urban Area, the BJP has won 35 out of 45 seats, up from just 1 in 2021 and 4 in 2024. Within the KMC region, the BJP has secured 10 out of 16 seats, compared to 0 in 2021 and 2 in 2024.
