From the Nilgiris to New York, Los Angeles & beyond what a fabulous journey ! The Great Elephant Migration, a travelling herd of 100 life-sized elephants sculpted from invasive lantana by over 200 tribal artisans of Gudalur in Nilgiris and Waynad, has completed a 5,000-mile, 13-month journey across the US. From New York to Beverly Hills, these elephants, each modeled on real wild individuals, carried a message of coexistence and the urgent need to remove invasives like lantana camara to save forests and wildlife. Last-leg of data 🤞 - (1) said goodbye to our trusty steed who saw us though 2.5 years of fieldwork; (2) if anyone caught us on their camera trap walking through the Sholas - hi to those sifting through the photos; (3) ending with an (almost😄-)all-girl-field team! 💪💪

@KamatLab_IISER hearty congratulations! Also, that is an amazing videos of the work spaces in the life of a biologist. Videos like this can help demystify a lot of what scientists do and why we need all the facilities and equipment we have.
