@ShadowofEzra Nobody has a reliable missile defence against thermonuclear missiles. You may stop a % but that's like saying you can stop "some" of the bullets aimed at your head.
Tulsi Gabbard testifies that Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan are developing new nuclear-equipped missiles that put the United States at direct risk.
She warns that China and Russia will eventually have missiles that can bypass U.S. missile defense systems.
“North Korea’s ICBM can already reach U.S. soil.”
@realPeterCrerar Since I often write historical and SF fiction, looking up words is basically a necessity. Venalicius (noun) for instance. (It's a title of one of my books.)
Bringing old words back to life.
Ye olde word of the day - Gorgonise
E.g. “The stranger’s gaze gorgonised the entire room; no one dared move or speak.”

@sarabushway Both, actually. My notes are mainly for names and characters, and particular plot targets. The overall story flow and concepts I keep in my head.
Do you guys also have copious amounts of notes for each project, or do you guys actually remember what's going on in your writing all the time?🤔

@ZB_Steele Apart from the obvious like LOTR and Dune, I'd probably say the Safehold series by David Weber. It's scope, huge and complex plot, and many characters provides long-term food for thought.
If you're limited to one, what's your favorite fantasy/sci-fi work of all time?
Can be a single book, a trilogy, a series, etc etc, but you can only pick one
@BellaDunnWriter I agree. It's not just social media. Even writing forums are like that. All rules and guides and structures. Nobody just chats about things like "I prefer the way David Weber describes spaceships, compared to Timothy Zahn. What do you think?" or stuff like that.
(Potentially) unpopular opinion: Conversations in the book community across platforms have gone stale. Almost everything I see is engagement bait.
People are still discussing prologues.
Still discussing 3rd POV x 1st POV.
Still discussing whether romantasy is fantasy.
Still 1/3
@PyresMagicka I have no idea. I write to a story and plot. The characters do what they are supposed to do unless I fall asleep and land on the keyboard.
I can't believe that Nvidia looked at this "AI on top of games filter" and said to themselves this is the future of gaming.
Like it or not, this is where Nvidia is heading and they're calling it neural rendering with DLSS 5.
The examples they've showed reminded me a lot of those AI generated filter videos on top of GTA V, except that now it is supposed to run in real-time.
Honestly, I don't like this current look at all
@ElChandler Two WIP, both happen to be fantasy.
One is in a slightly future world where magic exists, but normal humans and governments do their best to pretend it doesn't, even when they use it if necessary.
The other is a fantasy world with magic and swords, well, glaive for the MC.
