@joshshepperd where did you try to sign up? there are a lot of independent instances (something like 5000+ by my inspection) the biggest ones are slammed with scaling issues at the moment, the smaller ones are harder to find.

@SquiDaveo yes, it does - it's helpful to have a few friends on the same instance, and doubly helpful to have an instance where the "local" feed actually means something maybe a2mi.social - you would recognize some names there and also no loss in having multiple accounts

@SammichArtisan It's reasonably active, though some people post privately rather than publicly, and so your timeline improves once you have followers there. @localdzombak is keeps the lights on and the bits spinning, at some nominal cost that users contribute to. a2mi.social

I am looking for an API/library that can reliably extract tables from PDF files like this one. I tried @pdftables with poor results, but tbh it's a wicked hard problem with that kind of formatting. Is there a way to accurately extract tables 1 and 2? arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/pape…
