@YesterdaysBrit1 It’s 1976, I’m 5 years old. The council didn’t cut the grass this year, they let it grow until the park was like a sun-bleached hay meadow. When they came, they never took the clippings, the dried straw lay in long rows. The big kids had lighters.

It's 1976 and I'm 8 years old. It's that beautiful summer and the school holidays. I've made a makeshift tent in the garden from an old bed sheet and a few wooden poles. Dad has just finished his shift at the factory. He's worn out, but he comes into the garden to see my brother and me playing. We're eating cheese, tomato and salad cream sandwiches, made with Mothers Pride sliced bread, and drinking orange squash. The ice cream van will arrive at 4pm on the estate. Our garden is our world. All of the windows and doors are open in the house. The heat is stifling. Ladybirds roam free. Dad has fallen asleep on the sun bed. That tent would remain in place for weeks to come. These are childhood memories. We must hold on to them.

One of them (with crazy eyes) using the Ryan Bridge technique of using intimidation, then saying out loud 'I feel seriously threatened', the big girls blowse. Crazy eyes, goes on to pull the scarf from the face of one of the group of litter pickers. The van as you can see was left causing an obstruction on a busy highway. It appears to have the name JC Cars and Commercial’s on it which corresponds with the numberplate JC69CAC or similar. Anyone know them in the North Shropshire area, they may not have the companies permission to use this vehicle or the requisite insurance cover?

@JamesMacCleary @LibDems It’s more than just Trump though. We can’t trust the Republicans to back us, and that’s not changing anytime soon. It’s not just Trump. We have to move closer to Europe and Canada.

As awful as Trump is, the message we must take from this is to get serious about British rearmament. We need the Defence Investment Plan now and the govt should adopt the @LibDems Defence Bonds to inject £20bn into defence spending. The USA is our friend, Trump is not.
