🤯20Months into Pandemic pressures 🤯Incoming Winter Pressures 🤯Worsening workforce pressures 🤯Backlog Pressures Taken together are severely impacting NHS services. 🤯 #OmicronVariant now added into the mix. Time sensitive decisions must be made. I have written to @NHSEngland
Richard Vautrey@rvautrey

GP practices should be urgently freed up to focus on the patients who need them most, and step up delivery of #CovidVaccine to quickly protect as many as possible from #Omicron. Time for @NHSEngland and @DHSCgovuk to trust & support practices and suspend QOF micromanagement

Excellent blog from @sidhuGP explaining why current adult dependent relatives rules not only callously disregard needs of immigrant healthcare workers but is reducing NHS workforce capacity at a time of overwhelming pressures. @HouseofCommons please act today to reform ADR rules

Ahead of @HouseofCommons' debate on ADR tomorrow, @sidhuGP writes: 'You may not have heard of these #immigration rules, but they may have real significance for the NHS' pulsetoday.co.uk/views/kamal-si…

The BMA welcomes today’s Westminster Hall debate on the existing rules blocking overseas doctors bringing elderly parents to Britain. This important step will highlight how the rules have impacted members own wellbeing and the ultimate threat posed to our future medical workforce

No other part of NHS is subject to access league tables blaming them for workforce shortages, publicly shaming with patient feedback texts, & CQC hit squads blaming them for failing. If general practice was an employee, it would claim harassment, discrimination, victimisation

It’s my last day today as a GP Partner #teamgp #medtwitter. I have been a partner for 13 years but time to move on for my own health and well being. I have seen so many changes but I have never seen primary care with this level of demand, pressure and denigration in the press….

I found today hard. Combo of the realisation of what an utterly s*itty winter that looms ahead of us, with ongoing GP bashing alongside unreasonable demands and complete lack of respect that @NHSEngland has for their own doctors. I cried today...I suspect I will again soon

This week, being a GP, feels hard. I feel sad. I care about my work. I give my patients all I have. My colleagues are the same. But despite everything we’ve done this past year, it’s never enough. The GP bashing feels personal. Far from the clapping, it’s wearing us down now.

My letter to Daily Telegraph published today in response to unacceptable and demoralising article on GP appointments. The hard work of GPs and their teams should be celebrated not condemned. Join our ⁦@BMA_GP#supportyoursurgery campaign. bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent…

3% paid for out of existing budgets?! Should read, we’re doubling down on trying to encourage GP partners to leave the profession by actively cutting their pay whilst singing about actually increasing it…

GP partners in England have given just as much of themselves as all other doctors to care for their patients during the pandemic – and yet have been callously disregarded in this pay award.
The BMA@TheBMA

We are ‘extremely disappointed’ that pay uplift for doctors in England doesn’t adequately reward doctors tireless work and demands fair uplifts for all doctors. See full statement here bma.org.uk/bma-media-cent… #FairnessForTheFrontline

With 83% of patients reporting a good experience of their GP practice, and at the height of the pandemic, is a sign of the incredible hard work & dedication of all in general practice who have gone beyond the extra mile to do their best for their patients gp-patient.co.uk/surveysandrepo…

Recruiting new staff into primary care won't quite replace the doctors being lost as a result of pandemic burnout. The @gmcuk has urged for greater emphasis on retention as the NHS faces a workforce 'pinch point' #GPnews #pandemic #retention
