It sounds too simple to be true, but adding a handful of nuts to your routine could be a lifesaver for your heart. A massive study of over 60,000 people found a striking connection: people who eat nuts regularly have a significantly lower risk of atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular heart rhythm that can lead to strokes. But the benefits don't stop at rhythm. Nut eaters also show a lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease in general. Why does this work? Nuts aren't just snacks; they’re tiny metabolic powerhouses. They’re packed with: Healthy Fats: To lower inflammation. Magnesium & Potassium: Essential minerals that act like a "tuning fork" for your heart’s electrical system. Antioxidants: To protect your arteries from oxidative stress. The Sweet Spot: Aim for 3 or more servings per week. Whether it’s walnuts in your morning yogurt or a handful of almonds during your afternoon break. Or the government could give actual, science based - food advice. And clamp down on Big Food, the companies that pump modern food full of salt, fat and sugar - which causes so much harm - and is addictive. Tackle the cause not the symptom, far more effective and cost effective.
