To figure out why Cole Allen did what he did, I obtained a copy of his resume and talked to his former friends. The portrait that emerges is unlike what the White House is saying: kenklippenstein.com/p/assassin-was…

@tedcruz If babies are so good, why do you do so little to support prenatal care, preschool, health insurance, child care; all of the things that help produce great children and a strong country that is for everyone not just the rich?

Breaking: The U.S. is allowing Cuba to receive a major oil shipment from Russia. The tanker is about to enter Cuban waters, and the Coast Guard will not confront it, according to a U.S. official. This breaks a monthslong U.S. oil blockade. w/ @EricSchmittNYT

@JohnLeFevre @BillAckman Bill, do you ever wake up in the middle of the night, and suddenly feel that you are tired of your own bullshit? You know that climate change doesn't suggest that there will not be hot, cold, dry, wet periods. You also know there are some serious underlying trends playing out.

This is despicable. Montana does not support federal interference that erases or diminishes Indigenous history at Little Bighorn — or any federal site in our state. Little Bighorn is sacred ground. Native history there is not political — it is foundational. Tribal nations are sovereign governments, and their voices are central to the truth of this place. History should not change with political winds. If interpretation needs review, it must happen through evidence and meaningful tribal consultation — not censorship. I am calling on the Department of the Interior to immediately pause any removal or alteration of Indigenous interpretive signage at Little Bighorn and engage in full, transparent consultation with Tribal governments. Montana tells the full story. Even when it’s hard. — Sen. Ellie Boldman #mtpol

@chamath Of course you billionaires don't want to pay more in taxes (and do what you can to avoid paying taxes). But why do you keep whining about taxes in California? Yes, the state should be smarter about how it spends. Yet, the voters choose. Why don't you stop crying and just go?

This chart shows that the top 1% of California taxpayers are responsible for more than 33% of all tax dollars. The top 0.1% of California taxpayers payers (~17,500 people) are responsible for more than 16% of all tax revenues. The point is that only a few people, in a state of 40M people, pay a huge portion of the state’s revenues. As one of them, I can tell you categorically that we’ve had enough. We will all move if this tax insanity doesn’t stop and pockets are organizing already to do so en masse. The middle class will then be left alone to pay for all the waste of the politicians you’ve elected because they have no ability to stop.

@ArthurMacwaters Let's talk about those crime numbers. The border crossing issue is well understood, and mostly taken care of. But crime is different. What is the % of crimes committed by illegals as a % of illegals here, vs. % of crimes committed by citizens as % of citizens here?

Borgund Stave Church in Norway was built sometime between 1180 and 1250 AD. It's part of of a group of medieval churches almost only present in Scandinavia, built with wood only and without using a single nail [📹 archeojobs]

After China, the number one country ripping us off is Ukraine. We send them hundreds of billions of dollars, get nothing out of it. This was Biden’s corrupt project. If Zelensky doesn’t sign whatever is put in front of him, we should cut loose of it.

NBC knew full well that it would be breaking at least two laws by interfering in the election in this way, and it did so anyway. It's not just Harris. It's also @timKaine who could lose to @HungCao_VA NBC constructed a sketch literally aimed at increasing Kaine's name recognition. SNL could thus tip two elections. People may not appreciate the significance of SNL. It has a huge young male audience — exactly the audience Harris and Kaine need. By giving the FCC and Congress so little time before the election, NBC calculated that it could get away with, at most, a fine. NBC's top lawyer, Kim Harris, worked for Obama and is thick as thieves with Biden admin and DNC. NBC may not have calculated that this is flagrant election interference. NBC may not have calculated that it is vulnerable because it depends on the US government for its license. The American people have subsidized NBC for decades. Congress and FCC should revoke NBC's license. They have violated the public's trust. It is not acting in the public's interest. Our voices matter. Please share this post so the FCC and Congress will take immediate action against flagrant criminal conduct and election interference by NBC.

The producer of Saturday Night Live said neither Harris nor Trump would appear on the show "because of election laws." Last night, about 60 hours before polls open, he put Harris on the show in a warm & humanizing sketch. He and NBC violated the equal time provision of the law.

THIS IS INSANE ELECTION INTERFERENCE by @NBC Saturday Night Live, Nov 2, 2024: HOST: Welcome to 'What's That Name?' Election edition. The rules are simple. We show you a person, you tell us their name. This is the most important election in American history. Democracy is on the line... KAINE: I was Hillary Clinton's vice presidential running mate. So, at the time, you said it was the most important election in American history and that democracy was on the line. It's been less than eight years. What's my name? GUEST: Hi, it is an honor. KAINE: You voted for me to be one heartbeat away from the Oval Office in an election more recent than the release of Zootopia. What's, what's my name? GUEST: It's not, it's not my fault if he was a more memorable guy like Tim Walz. This is very much a guy like Tim Walz. Let's see them side by side. HOST: Not only does he look exactly like Tim Walz, his name was also Tim. Really? His name was Tim? My, my name is still Tim. I, I, I, I exist. I'm a senator representing Virginia. HOST: Of course you are. I'll give you three options for what his last name was. Tim Clinton. Tim Tim or Tim Scott? GUEST: Oh, two of those don't sound real. I'll go with Tim Tim. HOST: Audience, what's that name? AUDIENCE: Tim Scott! HOST: It's Tim Kaine!

In addition to illegally boosting @KamalaHarris, NBC's Saturday Night Live last night did a skit *literally* aimed at boosting the name recognition of Sen @timkaine. Why? Perhaps because Kaine's challenger @HungCao_VA just closed the gap & could win. It's election interference.

NBC said it wouldn't break the law, but it did. SNL nakedly boosted @KamalaHarris & @timkaine. This is brazen election interference. It was timed to avoid any chance of "equal time" under law. A post-election fine will be too little too late. The FCC should revoke NBC's license.
