Born in Rumbek, South Sudan 🇸🇸. Raised in Uganda 🇺🇬 since he was 2. Picked up interest in playing basketball after a boda boda man told him he was too tall for his age. Started playing at 14 & 4 years later, he is a top 10 NBA Draft 2025 pick. Wow! 🤯

Every protest leaves me heavy. Someone’s always hurt. Sometimes killed. I ask myself, is it worth it? But if those before us didn’t fight, would we have anything today? This country is broken. One day, those responsible will answer. Grateful to everyone still standing. #June25th

The air this morning is beautifully cool but pregnant with menace. We are running out of cool heads. I tried to join a conversation at a petrol station where people are shopping at the off licence and others are eating - at midnight - and a guy tells me: “Huyo tuna mmalizia kesho. Mapema tena”. I have been reading on social media, with horror, the self obituaries of some Gen Zs. Others apparently want to send money to a mortician in advance to prepare their bodies for burial. I suppose this is after some senior government people were reported warning those who join the protests that they will be killed. These children of ours are frighteningly bold and courageous. On the other side, I have just been reading on the UDA Fans Page (sic) that 5000 goons, described as “private security” including “ex police and ex military” have been hired by “business people” to protect their premises. I suppose that is another way of saying goons and undercover police and servicemen, will be in the streets. I’m sitting here wondering: how will this end? For sure, in the streets there is little sympathy for the government, seen as arrogant and untrustworthy. On the other, the government will want to project strength even when, clearly, it has very little. So an over-reacting government, backed by folks who are likely goons, will face off with our recklessly fearless children in the streets today. It is a slippery day, folks. My take: to the Gen Zs, petition your government peacefully, it is your right. To the government, have fun with your games and goons — so long as you don’t shoot or in any way harm the protesters. Remember, this is entirely your fault. Had you genuinely engaged these young people, we would not be here now. And may God protect our country.

•we shall not forget• My faith in a generation willing to speak up for themselves and willing to stand up for the betterment of their own country, has been restored. My faith in the sovereignty of the people has been restored. Yet, my heart bleeds most for those that never made it back. They will not be a statistic, but a legend that I will speak of for generations to come. I am proud of my people, and for as long as I stand, I shall play my part…The revolution SHALL be televised. Track: Ambia - Billy Black Thank you @billyblackKE for making music for the soul. WE SHALL NOT FORGET. 🇰🇪✊🏾♥️🤍🕊️

If you intend to protest for the first time tomorrow, here's a handy guide to help you navigate where to position yourself based on your comfort levels. Keep going deeper up to where you feel comfortable. Start from the outside going in. We all should protest, we all can protest.
