Orbán’s oligarchs are moving money out and preparing to leave Hungary Tisza party leader Péter Magyar said people close to Viktor Orbán have started transferring billions abroad. According to him, funds are being moved to the UAE, the United States, Uruguay, and other countries where extradition is more difficult. Magyar claims oligarchs are also selling off assets inside Hungary. Many have already left the country or are planning to do so. Magyar’s party won the election by a wide margin and secured a parliamentary majority. This means he can push through reforms dismantling the system built by Fidesz. Orbán’s own future is unclear: yesterday he announced he would not attend parliament for the first time in many years. The opposition believes he may leave the country if anti-corruption investigations begin.
